This provision is good
The childminder makes good observations and assessments of children's needs to monitor their progress and learning needs. She uses her knowledge of the children well to plan challenging activities that support them in making good progress from their starting points. The childminder works well with parents. They frequently share information about what children learn to work together and provide continuity in children's care and learning. Children form close relationships with the childminder. They show high levels of confidence to explore, learn and share their ideas. Children behave well. They are courteous and kind. They cooperate and play alongside each other harmoniously. The childminder works well to monitor her effectiveness and make ongoing improvements. She is clear about her strengths and areas for development. For example, she is currently improving the garden to provide more learning opportunities

for children, removing some items so children have more space to move freely and develop their skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not use opportunities to teach children about the importance of how personal hygiene and healthy eating support their good health.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and the children taking part in a range of activities. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and talked to the children. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies and procedures, and children's learning records. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children. The inspector checked the safety of the premises and safeguarding information.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands the signs that may give cause for concern about a child's welfare and knows the procedures to follow to keep children safe. The childminder keeps abreast of developments and changes her practice well to meet children's changing needs. For example, to introduce phonics to support those who are ready to begin to read, helping to prepare them well for moving on to school. The childminder keeps written policies and documents and ensures they are all up to date, which contributes to the good quality care she provides. Since her last inspection, the childminder has improved how she shares information with other settings to enable her to work more consistently with them to meet children's learning and development needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her good knowledge of the children to support their learning well. She provides activities that reflect their interests and successfully adapts the level of challenges to support their individual learning needs. For example, she helps younger children to identify different coloured blocks and asks older children to solve simple problems, such as which colour is missing. Children are enthusiastic learners and they engage well in activities. For instance, they continue a creative activity in their own way, making choices and exploring materials with interest. Children help themselves to resources. For example, they select books for the childminder to read to them and join in with the story, sharing their thoughts and ideas.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy. The childminder is warm and encouraging, and she positively supports their play and learning. For example, she praises their creativity and skills when making decorations for Christmas. Children develop good self-esteem and learn to manage their emotions well. Children learn well about the world around them. They enjoy frequent trips to interesting places with the childminder, which they enthusiastically share with their parents. The childminder values children's interests and home lives, giving children a good sense of belonging. Children enjoy being helpful; for instance, they work together happily to tidy away toys in preparation for snack.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children have a positive attitude to learning. They develop well socially and emotionally, make choices and become independent in managing their care needs. Children enjoy a wide variety of activities with the childminder, such as trips to different types of shops, to the beach and countryside where they find out about the world, helping to develop their exploratory skills. Children gain good skills which prepare them well for the next stage in their learning and for school.
