This provision is good
The childminder has made good improvements since the last inspection. She is well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of her provision and has put clear goals in place to build ongoing improvement. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder and her assistants work closely with parents to share information about children's learning and achievements. Parents express how pleased they are with the quality of the provision and the good progress their children make. Children enjoy a broad range of stimulating activities and experiences that engages their interest for long periods. Children form close and trusting relationships with the childminder, which helps support their emotional well-being. For example, they go to her for a cuddle and they smile and feel comforted in her company. The childminder supports children's communication skills. For example, she regularly talks to them and skilfully asks them questions about their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder and her assistants do not provide effective opportunities to help children develop greater levels of independence. Occasionally, the childminder and her assistants do not support children to follow good hygiene routines to aid their health and well-being.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector held discussions with the childminder about her role throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled relevant documents including children's assessments, activity plans and the childminder's qualifications, training certificates and attendance register. The inspector observed children's activities in the setting and spoke to the childminder and her assistants when it was appropriate to do so. The inspector toured all the premises used for childminding. The inspector took account of parents' views through discussions and by reading questionnaire information and comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistants regularly update their knowledge of the procedures to follow should they have a concern regarding a child's welfare. The childminder demonstrates a very good understanding of her role and responsibility to teach children and keep them safe. She carries out risk assessments to identify and minimise hazards. The childminder works closely with her assistants and provides them with effective support and supervision. They identify further training needs to develop their professional knowledge. The childminder provides a learning environment that effectively meets the needs of children of different ages.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's early literacy skills effectively. For example, she reads stories of their choice in lively tones and fully encourages their participation in the story. The childminder uses the information from her observations and assessments well to help plan for children's next stage in learning and emerging interests. For example, she uses various effective ways to teach young children good early mathematical skills and colours while supporting their physical development. The childminder gives children choices in activities, which help them learn that their views are important. The childminder provides a wide range of activities for the children to use in their routine. For example, young children enjoy shaking the bells for rhymes, then they squeal in delight and join in to do actions and movements with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a caring and healthy environment for children to learn and play. For example, children regularly enjoy outings such as to local parks, the library, playgroups and indoor play areas. This helps to increase their activity levels and gives them opportunities to make new friends. The childminder teaches children about road safety to support their learning further. She encourages children to build confidence in their own abilities such as providing them with positive praise and encouragement. Children show consideration for others and are helped to learn about different cultures and backgrounds such as through a good range of books and resources. The childminder helps them to understand about being kind and sharing with their friends.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points and gain a wide range of skills to help them prepare for their next stage of learning. For example, children behave well, develop excellent relationships and quickly learn to be cooperative and tolerant of others. They gain a good range of early number, writing and reading skills.
