Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of what to do if she has a concern about the welfare of a child in her care. She is highly committed to protecting children and their safety is of utmost importance. The childminder is committed to improving her excellent practice. She scrupulously gathers the views of parents and children. She is highly effective in using professional development opportunities to develop her very strong practice further such as completing her level 3 qualification in childcare. She meets with other local childminders regularly to reflect on her service. The childminder works very closely with, and provides highly valued support to, colleagues.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder enthuses and engages children in their play. She uses her highly effective teaching to plan for children's continued outstanding learning. For example, children are thrilled and engaged in writing and posting letters. Young children sound out letter sounds and think about words that start with that sound. They quickly develop a love of stories and rhymes. The childminder provides rich opportunities for children to learn letters and the sounds they make, giving children an excellent foundation for their language and communication skills. Children use their expressive language to talk avidly about their experiences. Children count confidently in sequence and recognise shapes in the environment. The childminder acknowledges the need to extend opportunities for children to extend their problem-solving skills to support their mathematical development even more effectively.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

All children flourish, demonstrating a very good understanding of how to communicate their needs. The childminder supports children's good health extremely well. Mealtimes are sociable occasions where children chat and giggle as they delight in each other's company. The childminder fosters children's physical development exceptionally well through a broad range of activities and outings such as the weekly forest school sessions. The childminder is an excellent role model. She has very high expectations, and children respond exceptionally well. Children's behaviour is exemplary.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make excellent progress based on their individual starting points. They are highly independent from a young age. Children are extremely eager to learn new things and the childminder has prepared them very well for their move to school. They develop a strong sense of curiosity and positive attitudes towards learning. Children have an active voice and take part in events that prepare them exceptionally well for later life.
