This provision is good
The childminder supports children's communication and language development particularly well in a range of ways. For example, she models language clearly, describes what children do and gives lots of praise to encourage their emerging communication skills. This all helps children to express their views confidently in a range of ways such as through sounds and gestures. Children are settled, happy and they enjoy the childminder's company. The childminder makes good use of opportunities to help children develop close bonds with her. These help support children's emotional well-being effectively. Tracking of children's progress is precise and includes the views of parents and outside professionals. Children benefit from an effective learning programme that meets their individual interests. They make good progress from their starting points. The childminder has made good progress since the previous inspection. For example,

she evaluates her service effectively. This has helped her raise the overall standard of her provision.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not support each child to get the most from activities. Outdoor experiences are not organised well enough for children to make best use of the available equipment. For example, they do not have much space to move in their toy cars.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

make sure that every child consistently has equal opportunities to join in experiences suited to their needs help children make the most of their outdoor experiences.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the children and their interactions with the childminder. The inspector viewed a sample of documents including children's learning records. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder reflects well on her practice and makes worthwhile improvements. For example, she completes an audit to help assess all aspects of her practice and ensures she successfully meets requirements. She makes good use of professional development opportunities to help extend her knowledge and skills further. For example, she has improved arrangements for observing, assessing and planning for children's progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of the signs and symptoms that cause concern for children's welfare. She has up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and thoroughly understands the importance of monitoring children's attendance to help ensure their safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a range of stimulating activities to help support children's learning, for example children eagerly play with dolls. The childminder takes opportunities to introduce mathematical language, such as 'big' and 'small', during their play and models counting. She introduces children to enjoyable creative activities such as singing. The childminder sensitively takes account of children's emerging interests and, overall, supports them well to explore activities of their choice. The childminder encourages children to try new things, for example peeling satsumas, which help develop their physical skills well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children learn to take turns during play and respond well to the childminder's prompts to share resources with others. Children develop caring relationships with each other, for example, they offer water to their friends. They develop independence effectively. For example, they learn to feed themselves. Children have regular opportunities for exercise and the childminder plans healthy meals for them. These arrangements help support children's good health and well-being effectively. The childminder provides a welcoming environment that helps children feel secure. Children learn to value differences. For example, children begin to understand that sometimes they feel happy but that others may feel sad.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop their skills ready for the next stage. For example, they listen carefully to quiet sounds and look around eagerly to locate them. Children are curious. They are keen to explore a range of electronic equipment. They pull cords, press buttons, turn knobs and eagerly watch changes. They develop a keen interest in books, which helps their early literacy skills. They are prepared well for their eventual move to school.
