This provision is good
The childminder has good relationships with other providers where children spend most of their time. She shares information and extends on what children know, such as what they are doing at school. This effectively helps provide consistency for children's care and play. Children share and take turns with each other and learn about the behaviour that is expected. For example, they are involved in creating the house rules and confidently talked about these with the inspector during the inspection. The childminder uses the information about children's individual needs and development to plan activities and resources that are of interest to them. For example, children thoroughly enjoy playing together with a toy pirate ship and use small play figures to pretend they are pirates on the sea. The childminder places strong emphasis on continuously developing her practice. For example, she completes a variety of training, such as online courses, and does

research. Parents speak positively about the childminder's provision. She provides a relaxed and safe environment and children receive good balanced care after school.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently use opportunities to build on children's awareness of healthy eating and heathy lifestyles.

develop further children's awareness of healthy eating and their understanding of how to lead healthy lifestyles.

Inspection activities
The inspector held discussions with the childminder about her practice. The inspector completed the school pickup with the childminder and observed her practice in regards to safeguarding. The inspector looked at the areas of the premises used for childminding and sampled relevant documentation. The inspector observed children's play and the childminder's interactions. The inspector took account of parents' written and verbal feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has high expectations for herself and the children in her care. She has a good and up-to-date understanding of the procedures for safeguarding children and is clear about her role and responsibilities. The childminder understands the process to follow should she have a concern about a child and carries out risk assessments daily. Safeguarding is effective. Systems are in place to record any accidents or medication and these contain all the required details. The childminder establishes positive relationships with parents and shares information about children's activities and experiences through daily conversations. This helps parents to build further on what their children already know at home. The childminder seeks the views of parents and children, such as through discussions and feedback forms. This supports her to reflect on her practice and helps her to evaluate her provision and identify and prioritise areas for improvement.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is friendly and caring. She communicates effectively with children and asks skilful questions to develop conversations. She listens attentively to what the children have to say. For example, she is interested to find out about the children's day at school. Children help to plan what they would like to do and confidently make choices from the good range of activities available. They follow their own ideas and are able to revisit their activities. For example, children engage in imaginary role play, making up stories with the pirate ship and are able to continue their play after tea. Children enjoy sitting with the childminder, looking at books and playing games. For example, together they talk about the number of people who enter the bus and who they are. This helps children to develop an understanding of, and celebrate, each other's differences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a home-from-home environment, helping to ensure parents and children are happy and confident with the care given. Children play well together and learn to have regard for the feelings of others. The childminder establishes close bonds with the children, which helps her to support their care needs and emotional well-being. Children learn about each other's families and other cultures. This helps to increase their understanding of diversity. The childminder is flexible in how she organises the daily routines, offering children choices about what they would like to do and when. This helps to support their engagement in activities and their self-esteem. Children learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, the childminder reminds them about road safety on their way home from school. She reminds them to listen and look for cars before crossing the road and use appropriate car seats and seatbelts when travelling in her car.
