This provision is good
Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. The childminder is warm and friendly and builds positive and trusting relationships with children. She is responsive to children's emotional well-being. The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. For example, she spends time and interacts positively with children, shares stories and takes the time to answer questions they may have. Children make good progress in their learning and development from their individual starting points. Children are confident. They have clear ideas about how to build their ideas and are keen to explore activities. The childminder has good systems in place to track and monitor children's development. She has a good understanding of what children can do and quickly identifies any gaps in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not considered how she can support parents to help children's understanding of healthy eating and continue their children's learning at home. The childminder does not routinely enable children to have a varied range of experiences, particularly for those who like to learn outside.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact of this on children's learning. The inspector gained the views of parents through written feedback. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector jointly discussed an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at documents such as policies and procedures and children's learning records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The organised childminder continues to reflect on and develop her good practice and skills. For instance, she networks with other childminders and has professional discussions to share new ideas and good practice. For example, she recently developed how she observes children's play to identify specific interests and learning styles. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of her responsibility to keep children safe. She knows the procedures to follow if she has concerns about their safety and welfare. The childminder has good relationships with other professionals and shares relevant information.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder identifies the next steps in children's learning and supports their ongoing development well. For instance, children begin to understand that letters carry meaning and spontaneously talk about them during play. The childminder supports children well to develop their mathematical skills and understanding. For example, she helps children explore their interest in counting and colours, and children begin to understand numerals. The childminder joins in well with children's play and encourages them to challenge themselves further. For instance, she suggests that they search and match dinosaurs by size and type.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have a good understanding of their own safety. For example, the childminder completes emergency evacuations with children and they talk about being careful when using scissors. The childminder supports children to learn about their emotions and to talk about how they are feeling. For instance, children know a range of emotions and the childminder encourages them to share how they are feeling. Children receive good opportunities to learn about other people that may be different from themselves. For example, the childminder explains to children about why one of the toy figures might use crutches to walk.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills they need to be prepared to start school, such as good concentration and an understanding of boundaries. Children make choices in their play and enjoy exploring the good range of toys and resources on offer. Children are motivated learners. They are eager to take part in activities and enjoy exploring familiar toys that interest them. For example, they ask for their favourite activity boxes and repeat play and activities that they are comfortable with.
