This provision is good
The childminder has addressed all the actions and recommendations from her last inspection. She has developed her knowledge of the early years foundation stage requirements to ensure she supports children's care and learning effectively. Children form positive attachments with the childminder. They are extremely settled and happy. Children freely make their needs known and invite the childminder into their play. Children's emotional well-being is supported well and their behaviour is good. The childminder uses observations and assessments of children's learning to identify and plan well for the next steps in children's learning. Her effective teaching ensures children make good progress from their individual starting points. The childminder works well with parents to successfully involve them in their children's learning, sharing ideas of what they can do to continue children's learning at home.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder has strong links with other settings that children attend and schools. She works well in partnership with them to support children's ongoing development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses opportunities to encourage children to learn why healthy eating is important and how it can support their good health. Occasionally, the childminder does not give an appropriate length of time for the children to think and respond when asking them questions.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed a planned activity and evaluated its effectiveness with the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documents including policies, children's development records and evidence of the childminder's qualifications and suitability to work with children. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder fully understands her responsibility to safeguard children. She is clear about the procedures to follow to keep children safe from harm. She carries out regular risk assessments to ensure the environment, resources and equipment are suitable. The childminder carefully monitors and reviews her practice to identify how she can improve children's experiences. She takes into account the views of the parents to guide further improvements. The childminder attends training and gets support from other professionals. This has helped her to assess children's progress more accurately, to identify any gaps, and plan activities that target children's developmental needs more closely.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of children's needs. She uses her observations, assessments, and information from parents, to ensure that children are challenged effectively to reach the next stage in their development. Children spend long periods of time engaged in their play and are motivated by the activities the childminder plans for them. For example, she introduces various puzzles on counting and recognising shapes and colours. This helps to support children's mathematical understanding. Children enjoy early writing and creative skills. For example, they delight in exploring different marks they can make using a range of brushes and coloured paints. Children demonstrate a love of books as they share their favourite stories with the childminder. Together, they read the story and the children can predict what will happen next.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has a warm and friendly environment. She is a positive role model for children and offers a high level of care. Children receive regular praise and encouragement, which helps to raise their self-esteem and make them feel valued. The childminder encourages the children to share and take turns, which helps to develop their understanding of the needs of others. Children's good health is encouraged effectively. Children are provided with plenty of opportunities to be physically active in the garden and out and about in the local community. The childminder celebrates a range of festivals with children, broadening their experiences and teaching them about the wider world.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are independent learners, who are motivated and eager to learn. Children count and name colours and shapes while they play. They are confident and enjoy regular trips to toddler groups to develop their social skills. Children develop good pencil control and they talk about their drawings. Children gain important skills and are well prepared for the next stage in their learning, including the move to school.
