Babies settle well and have strong, secure attachments.  The childminder implements highly effective risk assessments and her good policies and procedures into her daily practice. She provides a safe and secure environment for all children.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder continuously updates her knowledge. For instance, she accesses research and training. This has a positive impact on the learning experiences she provides. The childminder pursues advice and support. For example, she has established good partnerships with other professionals and strives to improve outcomes for children. The childminder actively seeks the views of parents and children and makes positive changes that enhance her provision. Parents are very pleased about the care and learning the childminder provides. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about the children in her care.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder monitors children's progress accurately and highlights any specific needs and gaps in learning. She provides a good commentary to children's activities and builds on their vocabulary. For example, she sings to babies, responds well to their babble and uses repetitive language. Children develop a love for books and often seek the childminder's engagement. The childminder teaches young children mathematical skills during daily activities. For example, she regularly counts with children. The childminder extends the ideas of children during their play. For example, she provided babies with a stick for the xylophone and praised them when they proudly made different sounds.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder knows children well. She responds well to children's emotional needs and recognises when they need reassurance and comfort. The childminder supports children's health and well-being highly effectively. For example, she provides children with healthy meals and snacks. Children regularly enjoy fresh air and physical exercise when they play in the garden or go for walks, including visits to feed the ducks and to see the boats at the river. Children learn about road safety when out in the local environment. Resources and activities reflect and value the diversity of children's backgrounds and experiences.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children have good experiences to gain important skills in preparation for their next stage of learning and education. For example, babies learn to feed themselves and communicate through actions, expressions and verbal responses. Children are confident to have a go at new experiences. They show interest in the world around them. For example, babies investigate how to operate equipment and show good small muscle control.
