This provision is good
Since her last inspection, the childminder has worked hard to make improvements to her practice. She has developed her use of information gained from parents, in order to help her effectively identify children's starting points. The childminder has also increased her use of information gained through ongoing observations to help her accurately plan for children's next steps in learning. The childminder provides parents with support and guidance about what they can do to promote their child's learning at home. For example, she shares daily verbal feedback and gives them written guidance about different activities each month. Young children are learning how to operate technology. They show high levels of confidence, curiosity and interest as they excitedly explore and investigate touchscreen equipment with the childminder. Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder is well qualified. She updates her knowledge through attending

training, local authority conferences and reading professional articles. She also uses the internet to help her explore alternative ways to offer children more varied and challenging experiences.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help children learn to value differences in other people and communities. Occasionally, children are not provided with ample opportunities to independently manage their own hygiene needs.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

provide more opportunities for children to develop their awareness of positive differences in their community and the wider world provide more opportunities for children to independently manage their own hygiene needs.

Inspection activities
The inspector reviewed documentation, such as the childminder's qualifications, self- evaluation, children's records and the suitability of household members over 16 years old. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents provided by them prior to inspection. She spoke to the childminder and children present at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector reviewed the safeguarding policy and procedures. She also viewed other written documents that are regularly shared with parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows how to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse. This helps her to identify children that may be at risk of harm. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of what procedures to follow if she has any concerns about a child's welfare. She uses a wide range of written policies and procedures to help support the safe daily running of her service. Parents are made aware of these, in order to ensure that they are kept well informed. The childminder consistently reflects on her practice to promote continuous improvement. She evaluates activities along with feedback from children and parents to assist her in making decisions about how to enhance the service she provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder ensures that children's current interests are effectively incorporated into the planning of activities. This helps children to be engaged and motivated to learn. The childminder introduces mathematics into all aspects of the daily routine. For example, children spontaneously count to three as they prepare to complete a task. They are keen to use their communication and language skills. The childminder ensures that they can clearly see and hear her when she speaks. Children respond well to a wide range of probing questions about things that interest them. For example, they successfully name the wide range of animal figures they are playing with and mimic the sounds that the animals make.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. The childminder provides them with plenty of warm praise for their achievements. She acts as a good role model. The childminder encourages children to learn about turn taking and being polite, such as saying please and thank you at appropriate times. Children are given daily opportunities to spend time outdoors in the fresh air and take part in vigorous play opportunities. They enjoy using online resources with the childminder to learn about foods that are good for us. Children show high levels of confidence, letting the childminder know that they would like their drink first in a pink and then a blue cup. Children learn about the importance of staying safe through daily activities. For example, they are reminded to be careful when they walk near to the dining table, so that they do not bang their head.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress and gaining the necessary skills to prepare them for school or the next stage of their learning. Children confidently express their feelings and needs, for example, when they are tired. Children maintain good levels of focus and concentration. They show an enthusiasm for learning. They are starting to talk more as they play, using their speaking skills to build stories as part of their imaginary games.
