This provision is good
The childminder regularly reviews the quality of her observations, planning and assessments to help ensure that she is meeting children's individual learning needs. The childminder makes accurate assessments of children's progress. This includes the progress check for children between the ages of two and three years. The childminder invites parents to look at their children's development files each term so that they can discuss their child's progress. The childminder provides a homely environment where children are comfortable and relaxed. She reflects on children's individual interests and provides activities and resources that help to keep them interested and motivated. The childminder is a good role model with a gentle approach. Children happily cooperate with care routines and this shows that they feel safe. All children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder is quick to

identify any gaps in children's learning and plans effectively so that they promptly catch up. The childminder provides parents with information and ideas about how they can continue with their children's learning at home. For example, she suggests specific resources to support children's physical development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully explored how to raise the quality of teaching to exceptional levels. Although teaching is good, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help young children develop their language more rapidly.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and learning and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records and a range of other documentation including, training certificates and evidence of suitability checks. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and the procedures to implement to help safeguard children from abuse or neglect. The childminder checks her home regularly to ensure it is a safe, secure and suitable environment for children to use. She also checks that her resources and equipment are appropriate for children's age and stage of development. The childminder seeks the opinions of parents and children to help her assess the quality of the care she provides. The childminder reviews her planning and reflects on children's progress to ensure that she covers all seven areas of learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes good use of the local community to broaden children's experiences and promote their learning. Children especially enjoy the trips to the wildlife park where they learn about the animals they see there. She also takes children to various groups where they enjoy dancing to music. Children explore a box of colourful instruments. The childminder shows them how to play them and they eagerly copy her and enjoy the sounds they make. Toddlers listen to the childminder as she sings a familiar song and they move their bodies to the rhythm. The childminder introduces early counting as children remove and replace shapes into a shape sorter. Toddlers use their imagination as they make tea and offer it around.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has high expectations for good behaviour. She sensitively reminds children that they are to be kind to each other. The childminder also provides various opportunities for them to play alongside other children away from her home. This is one way she supports children to develop their social skills. The childminder is sensitive and responsive to children's emotional needs. This helps them form a genuine bond with her and they settle quickly. Parents are very complimentary about the level of care and the quality of learning experiences the childminder provides for their children. Children learn about eating healthily as part of their daily routine. They select fruit for a snack, enjoy freshly cooked meals and learn to help themselves to a drink of water when they are thirsty. Children benefit from lots of local outings. The childminder talks to children about where they are going, possible dangers and how to keep themselves safe.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the range of skills they need for school. They recognise letters, numbers, colours and shapes. Babies' confidence builds quickly as they eagerly explore the environment and make choices about what they want to do. Children become good listeners and are confident to express their wishes and views. They develop good social skills and learn to mix with other children in different situations.
