This provision is good
Children have a wealth of interesting activities and resources to choose from. They are challenged, motivated to learn and make good progress. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning. The childminder has a good observation and monitoring system to keep track of children's good progress. This helps her to quickly identify and address any areas where children may need extra or specific support. Children benefit from strong relationships with the childminder and her assistant. They know children's individual routines and personalities. Children are happy, settled and confident in their care. The childminder and her assistant have positive attitudes to their work. They attend many relevant courses to improve their knowledge and use the information gained to provide new and exciting learning experiences.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not encourage children to develop their independence. Sometimes, when supporting play, the childminder does not allow an appropriate length of time for children to think through their responses.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector engaged with the children during the inspection. The inspector undertook a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector observed the children during their indoor and outdoor play activities, as well as their snack routine. The inspector sampled various documents, including children's learning records, the childminder's self-evaluation form, risk assessments and a selection of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder evaluates the quality of her provision well. She takes into account the views of parents and children in the identification of areas of development, in order for children's outcomes to improve. For example, parents complete questionnaires and children give their views to an ideas book. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have a good understanding of how to keep children safe and the procedures to follow should they have a concern about a child's well-being. The childminder has clear procedures in place to check the suitability and practice of her assistant. They work successfully together to maintain the good standard of their provision. The childminder has successfully addressed the issues from the previous inspection and made several changes to her practice. For example, she has improved her medication procedure and has accurate and detailed medication records for each child.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant have a good understanding of how children learn. They plan a broad range of activities based around children's interests and adapt these for each child's age and stage of learning. For example, children enjoy playing with coloured rice, using different tools to transfer it between different sized containers. Children eagerly join in with activities to develop their physical and language skills. For example, they enjoy singing and music activities using props and instruments. The childminder has very good relationships with parents and shares information with them regularly, for example, through daily diaries and discussions. She keeps parents involved and up to date with their children's learning and development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistant act as positive role models to the children and manage their behaviour effectively. They give plenty of praise and encouragement throughout activities and help children develop their self-esteem and confidence. Children learn to share, take turns and have good manners. Children learn about healthy lifestyles as they take part in physical activities. For example, they develop their coordination by using a range of toys in the garden or at local parks and playgrounds. Children follow good hygiene routines and benefit from eating nutritious meals and snacks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children explore the childminder's home and choose activities that interest them. They are confident and motivated learners. Children have an interest in early numeracy. For example, they sing number songs and count objects as they play, knowing what number comes next. All children are well prepared for their next steps in learning.
