This provision is good
Regular observations are used to inform planning for what each child needs to learn next. The childminder provides activities that she knows children enjoy and that promote interest and challenge. This contributes towards children's good progress. The childminder shares information with other settings children attend to help provide consistency in children's care and learning. The exciting and stimulating range of activities that is readily available to children of all ages fully promotes their all-round learning and enjoyment. Children are motivated and enthusiastic learners and enjoy making choices throughout the day. Their physical and emotional well-being are supported well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not developed a highly targeted programme of training to help the quality of teaching and learning improve even further. The childminder does not always provide parents with enough information about the different ways they can continue their children's learning at home.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at children's records and planning documentation. She looked at a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures and the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector looked at a range of parental feedback documents and took account of their views. The inspector spoke to the childminder, assistant and children at appropriate times during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a robust understanding of child protection issues. She understands what to do should she be worried about the welfare or safety of a child. The childminder regularly seeks the views of parents, children and her assistant. She uses this information to make regular improvements to practice. The childminder monitors the quality of teaching of her assistant and shares guidance and support to maintain a good quality provision. On the whole, training has a positive impact on the quality of teaching and learning. The training attended has helped her develop a range of effective strategies to promote children's early language skills. The childminder understands the importance of liaising with other professionals and to seek additional support when needed.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant plan a vibrant and colourful environment. This helps to support and extend children's learning. The childminder has a clear knowledge of the stages of development. She encourages children to talk about their experiences and introduces them to new words. Children of all ages listen attentively to others and are keen to contribute their own ideas. They are eager to use the range of media and materials with imagination and creativity. Children enjoy using tools and their own hands to explore and experiment with the different textures. Mathematics is promoted well throughout the day. For example, children count and match the objects and notice the changes as they mix the different coloured paints together. They develop an interest in a range of early writing tools and begin to learn to write their own names. All children are developing the skills and enthusiasm to promote future learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Parents are invited to share information about children's care needs and routines when children first start. This helps the childminder and her assistant to get to know each child well. The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment and children settle in well. Children form a close bond and attachment with the childminder, assistant and their peers. The childminder provides gentle reminders of behavioural expectations. Children are keen to invite others to join in with their play and celebrate achievements together. They are provided with healthy and nutritious meals and snacks and have plenty of opportunities to play energetically. Children enjoy moving their bodies to the music and running around in the fresh air with vigour and excitement. They learn to put on their own outdoor clothing and see to their own toileting needs independently. Children develop a growing understanding of how to manage risks and try new experiences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children of all ages are keen and excited to play and explore and to find things out for themselves. They are creative, imaginative and confident to follow their own ideas. Children develop good relationships with others and are confident to contribute their views and opinions. They are all developing the skills needed to help them to be ready for school.
