This provision is good
The childminder has made significant improvement to her practice since the last inspection. She has worked closely with her local authority adviser and addressed all the actions and recommendations raised. The childminder regularly reviews her practice, taking into account the views of parents and children. This helps her to continuously develop the quality of care and raise outcomes for children. The childminder gathers information from parents about children's starting points and their interests, and uses this to plan stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences which capture their interest. The childminder understands how children learn. She carefully observes children and accurately assesses their stages of development. The childminder is a positive role model and forms close, caring relationships with the children in her care. This supports children's emotional well-being and builds a secure

basis from which children are ready and able to learn. Children behave very well. The childminder spends time supporting children in their activities and praises them frequently. Children are confident, happy and relaxed. The childminder supports children to learn about healthy lifestyles. She provides healthy snacks and offers lots of opportunities for children to be physically active.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas used for childminding. She spoke to the childminder at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder as well as a selection of policies and procedures, including safeguarding. She discussed risk assessments and the childminder's self-evaluation process. The inspector carried out a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents from information provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has completed specialist training to make sure that she understands how to support vulnerable families. This helps her to identify any children who may be at risk of harm from extreme behaviours and views. She is aware of the procedure to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. Children are well supervised at all times. The childminder has a comprehensive range of policies, procedures and risk assessments that helps to ensure that children are kept safe and healthy. The childminder has recently implemented an online programme to assist her in monitoring the progress that children are making. In addition, this helps her to ensure that any gaps in children's learning are quickly identified. Effective links with other settings have been established, in order to ensure that children's learning is continuous and consolidated. Parents welcome the good quality care and
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is an effective teacher. She happily engages in children's play showing respect for their thoughts and ideas. Children enjoy choosing what they would like to cook for their tea. The childminder encourages them to look through a cookery book and identify the ingredients required. Children develop their physical skills as they cut tomatoes and grate cheese. They learn about quantity and volume as they place the ingredients into the appropriate-sized bowl. Together they talk about foods that are healthy and nutritious and foods that must not be eaten as frequently. The childminder sets realistic challenges to children and understands when it is appropriate to offer support. Children demonstrate confidence in talking to visitors. They recall previous experiences that they have enjoyed, such as feeding the chickens at the allotment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are developing independence skills. They make choices and decisions about how they spend their time at the childminder's home. She encourages children to become involved in developing action plans outlining the activities that they would like to be engaged in during the proceeding months. Children demonstrate a real sense of ownership of their environment. For example, on returning from school they confidently place their shoes and coats in the appropriate cupboard. Children have lots of opportunities to socialise in the environment beyond the childminder's home. They regularly visit the library, go swimming and help on the childminder's allotment. This supports them to gain an awareness of families and communities in the wider world.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making good progress in their learning and development within a child friendly and homely environment. They are provided with a broad range of activities that enhances their enthusiasm to investigate, explore and experiment. Children are developing important skills that will help them as they move to the next stage in their learning.
