This provision is good
Children form positive attachments with the childminder. They feel safe and secure with her and her family. The childminder is a skilful communicator. She helps children gain new vocabulary and talks to them while they play. Children make good progress in their learning. Partnerships with parents are effective. The childminder keeps parents well informed about their children's day. For example, they receive daily written feedback which helps with continuity of care. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice and is motivated to improve what she does. For example, since registering, she has rearranged her rooms so the children have maximum space to comfortably move around. The childminder encourages children to adopt healthy lifestyle and routines, alongside a healthy diet. For example, the childminder provides a variety of fruits and home-cooked foods every day.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder misses opportunities to help younger children to learn more about numbers and counting during their play. The childminder has not fully explored ways to support and enhance children's physical skills when they are playing in the garden.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder with the children and spoke with the childminder about their learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection, regarding her practice and the arrangements for observation, assessment and planning. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation processes. The inspector checked the documentation the childminder uses to support her practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good understanding the early years requirements. She works part time in a nursery setting and uses her teaching skills to continue with similar learning experiences for the children in her home. The childminder keeps up to date with new ideas to help her with continuous improvement. For example, she reads relevant literature to get new ideas to help improve outcomes for children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed safeguarding training to raise her awareness of how to help keep children safe and secure. She is confident of what to do should she have any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder carries out daily risk assessments of her home to ensure it is thoroughly safe for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes and assesses children's learning and accurately tracks their progress. She knows how children learn and provides many opportunities to extend their learning experiences. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills very well. For example, she encourages young children to repeat words and follow instructions. The childminder encourages children to explore with their senses. For example, she encourages them to explore the textures as they manipulate porridge oats and water together. They enjoy feeling the consistency and rolling the mixture into ball shapes. Children enjoy exploring the variety of toys and resources and spend time engaged with activities. They enjoy pretend play, learning about everyday experiences. For example they pretend to cook and make dinner using a variety of play foods.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming environment and nurtures children's self-esteem and confidence well. She has in-depth discussions with parents when children first start to find out about what their children can already do to help establish their starting points. Children rest and sleep according to their needs. The childminder provides clear guidance to help children manage their behaviour. She builds their understanding of the world around them and improves their social skills. For example, she takes children to visit toddler groups to support them to learn how to socialise, share and take turns.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children become more independent, for example, they help to put their shoes on before going outdoors and confidently feed themselves. Children quickly become confident communicators and make their needs and wishes known. They make good levels of progress that are relevant for their age and gain the skills needed for future learning.
