This provision is good
The very caring childminder builds strong relationships with parents. Together they discuss and address any issues the childminder identifies in children's learning. The childminder has a secure knowledge of how to support children during their play experiences. She has clear learning aims for each child and helps guide each one, to make good progress and prepare them well for their future learning. The childminder meets children's physical and emotional needs well. For example, she provides flexible routines that help children feel secure. Children sleep, eat and have nappy changes according to their individual needs. Children have strong relationships with the childminder and behave well. The childminder accurately assesses her provision, which includes seeking the views of parents and children. She identifies her strengths accurately and decides worthwhile ways to continually improve outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder helps children with simple tasks that they could learn to carry out for themselves. The childminder does not provide children with many exciting outdoor experiences to extend their learning, particularly for those who prefer to learn outside.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

make the most of opportunities to develop children's independence further improve outdoor play opportunities to provide a wide and exciting range of play experiences that enhances children's learning and development.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities indoors and discussed the effectiveness of some of these with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled relevant documentation including some policies and procedures, and the childminder's self-evaluation records. The inspector took account of the views of the parents through parental questionnaires and testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder provides effective supervision and carries out thorough risk assessments to keep children safe. She understands clearly her responsibility to protect children from being at risk. She knows the exact procedures to follow should she have any concerns about their welfare. The childminder has successfully improved aspects of sharing information with parents since the previous inspection, which has helped her maintain her good standards. The childminder continues to develop her professional knowledge. For example, as a result of training, she has extended the ways that she can support children and their families through early assessment and intervention, to improve outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are keen to take part in a broad range of activities, which the childminder plans according to their interests and learning priorities. The childminder has a good understanding of how children develop and she provides a good balance of learning experiences. For instance, she regularly takes children on visits in the local community where they meet other people, use alternative play equipment and explore their local area. The childminder supports children's language development very well. For example, when she joins in with their play, she talks purposefully about what they are doing, and introduces new words with clear explanations. Furthermore, she pronounces words clearly and encourages children to listen to initial sounds. She supports children who learn English as an additional language well and treats every child as an individual.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy their time in the childminder's care. They build strong bonds and secure emotional attachments with the childminder and with other children. Children are happy and confident. The childminder is a calm role model to them. Children understand her high, consistent expectations for their behaviour, which help them feel secure. For example, even the youngest children know to remove their shoes and wash their hands before eating their snack. Children have good opportunities to learn about themselves and others, and to socialise. For example, they like to look at photographs of themselves and their friends enjoying previous activities, and visiting community groups.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They are confident in making choices and eager to participate in activities. They learn to share and take turns. Children are imaginative and gain coordination in their physical skills. Children enjoy a wide variety of activities that helps them develop skills for future learning in readiness for the move to school.
