This provision is good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder uses observations and assessments to monitor and support children's development accurately. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills well. For example, she provides lots of discussion and allows children time to think and speak. She regularly introduces new words to extend children's vocabulary. The childminder maintains clean and secure environments for children. She helps them learn about keeping themselves safe. For example, children learn to use knives to spread and cut food, and scissors to snip paper safely. The childminder engages in regular professional development to extend her knowledge and skills. For example, she has attended training to help understand even more about how to support children's individual learning styles.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Partnerships with parents have improved. However, the childminder is not always successful in obtaining information from all parents about their child's changing interests at home, and what they would like their child to learn next. The childminder misses opportunities to use more of the resources she has to extend children's understanding of the world further still, and help them make connections with pretend and real life.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of the childminder's interaction with the children. She also discussed the effectiveness of an activity with the childminder. The inspector observed the management of children's care routines. The inspector looked at children's assessment records. The inspector sampled the childminder's documentation and discussed her knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role and responsibilities to safeguard children's welfare and protect them from harm. The childminder reflects on the quality of her childminding to identify and make improvements. She has taken steps to address the recommendations from her previous inspection. For example, she has created photograph books for each child to help them explore their own families and to help them feel secure. She now keeps parents informed regularly of their child's progress and next steps for learning. Most parents share some aspects of their child's learning at home. This mostly relates to any significant achievements, which the childminder includes in the assessments of children's progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a secure understanding of how children learn and develop. She skilfully develops activities to keep children interested, challenged and learning. For example, to support children's imaginative play, they make telescopes with different tools and materials, and draw treasure maps to encourage their writing skills. Children then engage for a long time as they act out their ideas, using their map to search for hidden treasure. The childminder supports children's understanding of numbers well in their play. For example, she encourages them to count, name numerals and to compare quantities in their play and when reading books together.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder encourages children to lead their own play and create their own ideas. She joins in to maintain their interest and to ensure they enjoy their play, in which they share jokes and laugh together. The childminder motivates children to overcome problems and challenges successfully. Children are keen and proud to show the childminder what they have achieved. The childminder supports children's health and physical development well. For example, children help to make their own healthy meals. They join in lots of outdoor play to learn about the natural environment such as gardening projects, exploring muddy puddles and pond dipping to catch fish.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and interested in learning. They develop positive attitudes and behave well. They have very good manners and learn how to be kind and respectful to others. Children gain good skills for their future learning and are well prepared to move on to school. For example, they communicate confidently and learn to manage tasks for themselves to support their independence.
