This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has worked hard and has successfully met all the agreed actions and recommendations. She continues to closely monitor children's progress, making sure they are achieving in all aspects of their development. Children are happy and form close emotional attachments with the childminder, who is kind and attentive. They develop confidence in their own abilities and enjoy celebrating achievements together. Children benefit from a stimulating and welcoming environment, which the childminder plans effectively to encourage them to make independent choices throughout the day. The childminder regularly evaluates her practice. She actively seeks the views of parents, children and other professionals, which she uses well to help make positive changes that benefit her teaching practice and outcomes for children. The childminder develops close relationships with parents to encourage their

involvement in their children's ongoing learning and development.

It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not build on what children already know to develop and enhance further all aspects of their early mathematical skills. The childminder misses opportunities to extend children's growing vocabulary and to engage more skilfully in discussions to aid their communication and language.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, observation and assessment files and some policies. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability checks of household members and the qualifications of the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written statements.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role in protecting children and keeping them safe from harm. She makes regular checks on her premises to ensure that she deals with any hazards promptly and effectively. The childminder is committed to seeking professional development opportunities. For example, she regularly attends training to improve her knowledge and to achieve positive outcomes for children in her care. The childminder has good systems in place to clearly identify children's learning needs and recognise any gaps in their development. She knows how to access additional support from other agencies, if needed, for children who may have specific needs. Partnerships with other providers are good.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder understands how young children learn through play and she plans activities that encourage them to use resources that they enjoy. She is very patient and allows children the time they need to explore and develop their ideas. Children enjoy exploring play dough. For example, they first make the dough with the childminder and then use it creatively to design their own shapes and models. The childminder provides good support for children to achieve tasks, such as through trial and error. For example, children complete puzzles by looking closely at the images and matching pictures. She helps them notice any mistakes and work out what they need to do to put them right. Children get involved in role play opportunities. For example, they use the dolls to go shopping and act out real-life experiences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. They receive praise and encouragement from the childminder, boosting their confidence and self-esteem. They move freely between the different rooms and independently make their own choices. The childminder supports children's physical well-being effectively. For example, children enjoy regular exercise and outdoor play in the well-equipped garden. The childminder supports healthy lifestyles. For instance, she encourages children to wash their hands independently before they enjoy eating fresh fruit for snacks. The childminder provides good opportunities for children to socialise and meet people from different backgrounds. For example, they attend toddler groups and other community facilities where they learn to share and be kind to one another.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children demonstrate a positive attitude towards learning. Their early reading and writing skills are developing well. For example, they enjoy making marks and sharing books together. All children are making good progress from their starting points and developing the necessary skills they need for the next stage in their learning.
