This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has worked hard to improve her provision. She is committed to providing good quality childcare. Together with her co-childminder, she carefully evaluates the quality of provision and puts improvement plans in place to benefit children. The childminder invests in professional development opportunities to continuously improve her practice. She regularly attends training to enhance her teaching skills further. The childminder has developed good procedures for assessing children's skills. She has a thorough understanding of children's next steps in learning. Settling-in sessions are organised to ensure that children are happy with her before they start. Children form close attachments to the childminder. She is gentle and affectionate in her approach and children settle well in her care. The childminder develops good partnerships with parents to help ensure consistency in

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always support children to develop and extend their own learning by completing activities as they choose. The childminder does not always plan literacy activities, such as story times, precisely enough to enhance children's learning to the highest level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's play in the childminder's home. The inspector looked at children's records and a selection of policies and procedures. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and her co-childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents from their written comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The provider is well organised, enthusiastic and committed to the service she provides. She has worked hard with local authority advisors to address previous weaknesses and raise the quality of the provision. Children's progress is sharply monitored. The childminder has a clear understanding about how to identify any gaps in their development and she works with parents to help close these gaps. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows to take swift action to protect children's welfare in the event of a child protection concern. The childminder takes the necessary steps to help protect children and ensures that those adults in contact with them are suitably vetted. The childminder provides appropriate support and training to develop her assistant's practice. For example, they have regular meetings and discussions about ways to improve the provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is well qualified and she uses her good teaching skills to provide interesting activities. Children are engaged and encouraged to learn while they play. Sensitive observation and accurate assessment help the childminder to plan precisely to reflect children's individual needs. Older children enhance their small-muscle skills as they fix construction pieces together. Younger children's language skills are emerging as the childminder models and repeats key words. The childminder helps children extend their learning during imaginative play. For example, when children pretend they are going shopping, she encourages them to talk about the things they might buy.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder nurtures children's emotional well-being well and they thrive in the welcoming, homely atmosphere. She knows individual children well, which enables her to support their overall well-being effectively. She celebrates children's good behaviour and achievements with praise. This boosts their confidence and sense of self-esteem. The childminder actively engages parents in their children's care and learning. For example, she speaks to parents regularly and invites them to more formal meetings periodically. Children enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Children benefit from nutritious home-cooked meals and snacks that provide for their dietary needs and preferences. The outdoor environment provides children with opportunities to explore and extend their physical skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. Children are eager to learn and explore. They use every opportunity to practise their skills. Children develop good physical skills. Babies confidently begin to avoid obstacles on the ground as they practise walking faster. Older children develop good control and coordination of their body as they learn action sequences to songs. Early mathematical skills are emerging as children use size language in their play. Children develop the skills and attitudes they need for the next stages in their learning, including starting school.
