This provision is good
The childminder has addressed the action and recommendations for improvement raised at the last inspection. For example, he works closely with the schools that children attend to share information and help support continuity in their learning. The childminder observes and monitors children's development carefully. He targets areas that children need further support with and identifies what they need to learn next. This helps children to make good progress and develop key skills, in readiness for school. The childminder gathers detailed information from parents about children's learning and development when they first start at the setting. This helps the childminder to plan activities which are well matched to their needs and interests. The childminder has appropriate rules and boundaries in place and children behave well. Children are regularly praised for their achievements. This promotes their

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and had discussions at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents recorded on the childminder's questionnaires. The inspector looked at a range of documents, such as policies and procedures, training records and children's observations and assessments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a suitable knowledge of child protection issues. He understands what action to take if concerned about the welfare of a child in his care. Overall, the childminder reflects on the effectiveness of the setting regularly. He gathers and uses views from parents and children to identify further areas for improvement. For example, children now complete their homework and practise spellings together after a parent commented their child would like more support. The childminder has an appropriate childcare qualification. He regularly attends professional development opportunities with his co-childminder. This helps to improve their knowledge and teaching, supporting a shared understanding of good practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans activities around the children's interests to encourage them take part in new experiences. He shows the children how to use resources and then gives them space to explore. For example, children learn how to make the cars move around the track themselves by pressing the button on a controller. The childminder supports children's language development well. He shares books with key words in and models the correct pronunciation, encouraging children to copy. Parents are kept well informed about their children's progress through daily discussions. The childminder also arranges meetings to discuss their achievements and plan for what the children need to learn next.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has created a welcoming environment with a wide range of resources for the children to enjoy. They have opportunities to develop their physical skills, for example, learning how to ride bikes and scooters. They also enjoy regular trips to the local park. Children learn the importance of eating well and talk about different types of foods. This helps them to find out about healthy lifestyles. Children take off their own coats and shoes when arriving at the setting and make their own choices in play. This helps to foster their growing independence. Children are sensitively supported with their care needs. For example, they are asked if they need to use the toilet and encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are working comfortably within expectations for their age. Where children are working below in certain aspects, strategies support them to continue to make progress. Children settle quickly and build friendships, learning to cooperate with others. This helps promote their personal, social and emotional development. They grow in confidence and enjoy new experiences. Children use problem-solving skills to work things out and enjoy following their own interests. They develop their communication and literacy skills, helping them develop key skills for their future, in readiness for school.
