This provision is good
Children make typical progress for their ages and stages of development. They gain the skills they need to move on to the next stage of learning as they confidently play and explore. The childminder is sensitive to children's needs and interests. She builds strong relationships with parents to help them to understand how their children are learning and what they can do to support them at home. The childminder offers a good range of activities and resources for children to discover. The activities she plans and leads capture children's interest and challenge their skills. The childminder regularly reviews her provision and has made good improvements to the quality of her service and skills. She makes effective use of systems to evaluate her practice and sets clear goals to develop her skills and the provision further.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not extend children's concentration or focus in some activities that they choose for themselves, to help them make even better progress. The childminder does not build on children's understanding of music or movement to further extend their creative skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children during their daily play routines. The inspector and the childminder evaluated a planned activity together. The inspector took account of parents' written views. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures and children's records. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has improved the standard of care since the last inspection. She conducts evaluations of her practice and looks closely at certain aspects of her provision. For example, she reviews her child protection knowledge and ensures that she keeps up to date with local procedures. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder identifies hazards and how to minimise them and helps children to manage some risks appropriately in their play. The childminder seeks the views of parents regularly to reflect on the quality of her service. Parents show that they are happy with the childminder's practices and compliment her on the wide range of activities and experiences she offers to children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder seeks parents' views on what their children can do or need help with from the outset. She makes accurate assessments of children's learning based on information from parents and her observations of the children. The childminder shares children's progress with other adults involved in their learning. She seeks regular information from them to ensure that they all have an accurate understanding of the children's development. Overall, the childminder sets suitable challenges for children as they play. For example, she helps to develop children's hand and finger strength as they use scoops, jugs, spoons and cups in a tray of rice. She helps children identify and name various animals as they share a storybook. She asks questions and engages children in conversations to build on their language abilities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children show that they are settled and confident in the childminder's care. They show independence as they choose activities and resources for themselves. The childminder makes sure that children learn healthy habits and good hygiene routines. For example, children enjoy plenty of fresh air and exercise to support their physical development. They learn about hand washing and help to tidy resources. The childminder builds children's social skills and awareness of the world around them. For example, she provides children with plenty of opportunities to learn about the wider world and the local community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good physical skills. They readily use ride-on toys in the garden and can work out how to complete shape-sorting resources and puzzles with ease. Children have good communication skills. They pick up on new words and show good listening skills when the childminder reads to them. Children show positive social skills; for example, as they share and take turns.
