This provision is good
The childminder uses accurate observations and assessments to monitor children's development effectively, and help them make good progress in relation to their starting points. Children form close and trusting relationships with the childminder. She works efficiently with parents to support children's well-being and to meet babies' care routines consistently. The childminder provides a good range of outings to extend children's learning experiences. For example, children join in story activities in the supermarket, finding foods as they act out stories and contribute to fundraising events to help others. The childminder undertakes regular professional development to extend her knowledge and skills. For example, she has attended training which has helped her to gain a stronger understanding of the risks to children and how to protect them from harm.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder talks enthusiastically to children in their play. However, she does not consistently give babies time to express themselves to encourage their communication skills further still. The childminder does not consistently obtain information from all parents about their children's learning at home to help track children's progress even more accurately.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of the childminder's interaction with the children. She also discussed the effectiveness of an activity with the childminder. The inspector observed the management of children's care routines. The inspector looked at children's assessment records. The inspector sampled the childminder's documentation and discussed her knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of her role and responsibility to support children's welfare. She evaluates her provision well to make ongoing improvements to children's care and learning. For example, she now provides different materials for children to explore and create freely with indoors and in the garden. She also provides more resources to support children's outdoor learning such as books and tools to explore natural life and displays to learn about numbers and letters. The childminder keeps parents informed well of their children's learning and achievements. She provides activities for them to complete with their children at home to support their learning further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her good teaching skills and well-planned activities to engage children well in play and help them achieve their developmental goals. For example, the childminder encourages babies to crawl and to use the walkers to support their mobility safely. The childminder challenges children with new experiences. For example, young children explore lots of natural everyday objects in treasure baskets. The childminder helps them to find out what things can do and demonstrates how things feel as she tickles them with soft textures, making them smile. The childminder introduces new words and their meanings to children in their chosen activities. For example, she names animals and their sounds in the books they read, names the colours of toys they play with and counts aloud to introduce number language.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe and secure environment for children and peaceful play areas for them to explore confidently. She responds quickly to meet children's emotional needs. For example, she cuddles and soothes babies to sleep as soon as she sees them becoming tired and ensures they have their comforters when needed. The childminder helps children to develop good behaviour and positive attitudes successfully. For example, she uses individual star charts to help children learn to share, develop good table manners, play kindly and help others. She supports children's physical development and health well through, for example, regular outdoor play and physical activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy, settled and explore with confidence. They develop key skills for their future learning and are well prepared to move on to school. For example, they are motivated to learn and join in new activities with interest. Children learn how to manage tasks themselves to develop good independence.
