This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has worked hard with her local development worker to address the identified weaknesses. For example, she now completes accurate health care plans to support children with allergies or medical needs. Children form secure and caring attachments with the childminder. They receive plenty of praise and encouragement and develop their confidence and self-esteem effectively. The childminder uses good communication skills to constantly engage children. Children develop good listening and speaking skills and use these well. The childminder forms very effective relationships with parents. She shares good quality information and they work together successfully to meet children's individual needs. The childminder monitors children's progress through accurate observation, assessment and tracking procedures. She successfully uses this information to identify any areas

This provision is good
where children require extra support and plans accurate next steps for their future learning. All children make good progress in relation to their starting points.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes the childminder does not seize opportunities that arise to extend children's thinking and learning as fully as possible during activities. The childminder supports children's good health but does not make the most of all opportunities to help them learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector engaged with the children during the inspection. The inspector undertook a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector observed the children during their indoor play activities, as well as their snack routine. The inspector sampled various documents, including children's learning records, the childminder's self-evaluation form, risk assessments and a selection of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and the procedure to follow should she have a concern about a child's well- being. She uses risk assessments effectively to reduce hazards and maintain a safe environment for children to explore. The childminder is committed to improving her childcare service and regularly reflects on her practice, taking into account the views of parents and children. She makes sustainable improvements to benefit the children in her care. She also attends regular training to update her knowledge and improve her teaching and care practices. For example, she recently attended a course to support children who have special educational needs and has started using visual picture cards to support all children with their communication and language.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children benefit from their interaction with the childminder. They talk excitedly about their chosen activity and are delighted when the childminder joins in. For example, children enjoy dancing to action songs and rhymes; they laugh and giggle with the childminder as they dance around doing different movements and developing their physical and creative skills. The childminder uses information from her ongoing observations to monitor children's progress and to plan a broad range of learning opportunities that match their interests and abilities. For example, children enjoy reading their favourite story. The childminder provides a range of puppets and natural resources for children to explore and tell their own version of the story.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settled. They confidently explore the comfortable, inviting surroundings. Children's behaviour is managed well. The childminder is a good role model for positive behaviour. Children learn to be kind to one another and they have opportunities throughout their play where they learn to share and take turns. For example, children help to tidy away resources and are familiar with the routines of the setting. The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to mix with larger groups of children and develop their confidence in social situations. For example, they attend local playgroups, libraries and drama sessions. Children develop good independence skills and learn to manage their own personal needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are independent and display good levels of confidence. They are prepared well for their move on to school and develop good numeracy skills. For example, older children enjoy counting groups of objects and writing the correct numeral to match. All children make good progress in their learning and development.
