This provision is good
The childminder provides a comfortable, caring environment. She uses a wide range of resources to help support children's learning and development effectively. Children's personal and emotional development is well supported. The childminder knows and respects children's individual needs and supports them effectively to develop their confidence and self-esteem. The childminder closely observes children as they play. She accurately assesses their development and learning so that they continue to make good progress. The childminder has good relationships with parents and takes account of their views. She keeps them informed of the daily activities and provides feedback about their children's progress. The childminder uses processes for self-evaluation well to support her professional development and improve the service she provides.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder misses opportunities to enable children to be more creative and explore their own ideas. Occasionally, the childminder does not fully involve children in everyday experiences to challenge their growing independence skills as much as possible.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder with the children and spoke with the childminder about their learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection, regarding her practice and the arrangements for observation, assessment and planning. The inspector read and discussed the childminder's self-evaluation processes and discussed an observation of an activity. The inspector checked the documentation the childminder uses to support her practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role and responsibility to safeguard children. She has a good awareness of possible indicators that may show a child's welfare is at risk and of the procedures to report any concerns. The childminder has successfully addressed the recommendations from the previous inspection. For example, she has improved her understanding of completing observations and assessments. The childminder is keen to continue her professional development to help improve her teaching practice. In addition, she meets with other childminders, exchanges ideas and discusses childcare issues, to enhance the quality of her provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are happy and make choices about their play from a variety of resources. The childminder offers children activities that reflect and extend their current interests. For example, when they play shops and use shopping lists to pick their food, they begin to recognise and match the different fruits and vegetables on their lists. The childminder actively engages in their play to support their communication and language development. For example, she asks suitable questions while encouraging children to repeat words and follow instructions. The childminder works effectively with parents to support children's development. For example, she regularly reviews children's next steps in learning and involves parents regularly to ensure they are all supporting similar goals.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settled in the childminder's home and have warm and nurturing relationships with her. She is very sensitive to individual children's emotional needs and recognises differences in their levels of confidence. Children are well behaved. They benefit from the childminder's consistent praise and encouragement while they play and learn. The childminder provides many opportunities to help children adopt healthy lifestyles. For example, she encourages healthy eating and teaches children about good hygiene routines and the importance of regular exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make at least the progress which is typical for their age and are ready for their next stage in their learning. They are confident and enjoy regular trips to toddler groups to help develop their social skills. Children develop good communication and language skills. For example, they show a keen interest in books, enjoy stories and have great fun singing songs together. They are respectful, caring and develop positive views of others.
