This provision is good
The childminder is very patient, calm and provides a nurturing environment. Children are happy, settled and build good relationships with the childminder. Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder provides a good range of toys and resources, which helps to engage and motivate children. Children develop good physical skills. For example, they visit local parks with the childminder to use climbing equipment and go for woodland walks. The childminder encourages children to learn to build towers with bricks and complete jigsaws to help support their physical development indoors. The childminder helps to keep children safe. For example, she completes regular checks of her home to minimise any hazards and ensures younger children are strapped in their seats for mealtimes. The childminder is committed to providing a high quality service and keeps up to date with new information. For example, she attends training and meets with other

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children interacting together. The inspector held a meeting with the childminder while children were sleeping. The inspector looked at a sample of paperwork, including evidence of suitability checks, training certificates and children's records. The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of the children's play, learning and progress.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The experienced childminder reflects well on her strengths and identifies changes she has made since her last inspection. For example, she now seeks feedback from parents about their children's learning at home and rotates her toys and resources to keep children engaged and interested. The childminder has developed the range of play equipment outdoors, such as adding a trampoline. Safeguarding is effective. For example, the childminder has updated her knowledge to ensure she is aware of new guidance. She understands her role to protect children and knows the process to follow if she has any concerns about their welfare.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and provides activities that she knows they enjoy. For example, children enjoy feeling the textures of everyday items and use available resources, such as a book basket to collect toys in. They excitedly take turns to play with interactive toys alongside the childminder. She supports their play well, remaining at their level, smiling and laughing with them. The childminder helps children to extend their communication and language skills effectively. For example, she teaches them new words and engages them in finger rhymes and action songs. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively to help identify the next steps in their learning. She shares children's progress with parents, and keeps them informed of their daily activities to help them support their children at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works closely with parents to provide consistency of care. For example, she follows children's familiar routines, such as sleep times, and finds out about their families and favourite toys. Children's emotional well-being is supported well. For example, they smile, laugh and confidently put their hands up for a cuddle. The childminder helps children to learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, she provides nutritious foods, snacks, and uses outdoor activities effectively for children to have fresh air and exercise. Children enjoy visits in the local community, such as attending groups with other children and taking part in music sessions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Younger children quickly gain an understanding of the routines of the setting and learn initial skills of independence, such as wiping their faces after meals. They make good progress in the key areas of development. For example, they enjoy sitting with the childminder to share books and turn the pages correctly. They repeat words and respond well to the childminder, following her ideas and pointing to familiar objects. Children confidently make their needs known and are ready for the next stage in their learning.
