This provision is good
The childminder has made good progress since her last inspection. She provides many opportunities for children to learn about the world, people and communities. For example, children show interest in photographs and stories about Remembrance Day. Children show care and concern for each other and build friendships. Older children ensure younger children are included in their play and offer them toys. They help each other to complete tasks, for example, by holding the bag open so their friend can fill it with petals as they help to tidy away. The childminder uses her training well. For example, she provides children with specific praise so that they know what they have done well. This builds children's self-esteem effectively. The childminder uses her assessments and monitoring of children's progress effectively to provide a wide range of activities which capture children's interest and support the

next steps in their learning. Children make good progress from their starting points.

It is not yet outstanding because:
Outdoor play does not offer enough choice across the areas of learning for those children who learn better outside. At times, children do not have opportunities to express and use their own creative ideas.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions as children played inside and in the garden. The inspector spoke with the childminder about her understanding of the early years foundation stage requirements. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's assessment records, the childminder's self-evaluation and policies and procedures. The inspector considered the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder uses her risk assessments effectively to provide children with a safe and secure environment. She has a good understanding of her responsibility to report any child protection concerns. The childminder uses self-evaluation productively to improve her practice. For example, she has recently purchased tyres for children to use as planters to grow a more extensive range of vegetables to support their understanding of healthy eating. She works efficiently with her co-childminder and they support each other well to develop their professional skills. Partnerships with parents are good. There is a regular two-way flow of information and the childminder keeps parents well informed of their children's progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are excited to learn. The childminder provides a good range of experiences that challenge them and help them to progress in their learning. Children develop good physical skills. For example, they enjoy transferring petals to their bowls with tongs, which helps build their muscles to support children in their early writing. Children develop good communication and language skills. They confidently respond to questions as the childminder helps them to recall previous learning and engage in conversations. Children enthusiastically participate in songs and rhymes. They show good understanding of number and the childminder sets appropriate challenges, such as introducing the most- able children to early calculation.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Overall, children have good opportunities to choose from an abundant range of high- quality toys and resources. Children can easily reach these in the play rooms and make choices about their play. Children behave well. They take turns, for example, to choose a prop from the box, and respect their friends' song choices. Children follow the childminder's positive hygiene routines. For example, they know to wash hands before they eat. Children thrive in the tasks they are set. For example, they confidently lay the table, serve the raisins and prepare their fruit. Children develop good physical skills on the ride-on toys. They negotiate space well, adjust their speed and assess risk for themselves on the slope. Children understand the effects exercise has on their bodies. For example, after bouncing on the trampoline they fetch their drink to cool down.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are actively involved in their learning and develop the skills for the move to school. Children are very independent, pouring their own drinks, for example. Children listen well and follow the childminder's instructions, for example, as they move in different ways, such as stretching like a cat during physical play.
