These communications help to provide consistency and continuity for their care and learning. The childminder seeks the views of those who use her setting. She carefully considers any developments and plans thoroughly for continuous improvement.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children as they played, and spoke to them at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector viewed areas of the house used for childminding. The inspector sampled documentation including background suitability checks and children's records. The inspector took note of parents' written views. The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of the children's play, learning and progress.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is knowledgeable about child protection. She has clear policies and procedures to follow. The childminder is committed to improving her quality of practice. For example, she regularly attends training to further support the children and their families. Parents comment very positively about the good communication they have with the childminder. The childminder has effectively addressed previous recommendations. For example, she now provides children with a range of sensory activities for exploration.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder works effectively with parents to share information about children's learning and development. She uses children's current interests, for example with toy cars, to plan challenging activities to further support their learning. The childminder supports their mathematical development well as they play. For example, the childminder counts cars with children and compares sizes. The childminder supports children's communication development effectively. For example, she clearly repeats children's words and adds new words for them to learn. The childminder encourages children to develop and practise useful new skills. For example, she praises children as they try again and again to balance bricks to build towers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder effectively supports children's good health and helps them learn about healthy lifestyles effectively. For example, she talks to children about the need to wash their hands before they eat and about nutritious diets. The childminder makes use of thorough risk assessments to minimise hazards. Simple rules and boundaries, for example, help keep children safe. The childminder offers children warm praise, for example, as they tidy away the toys with which they have finished playing. Children have good opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, they walk to local parks to play, and enjoy visiting open, green spaces for energetic play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development from their starting points. They learn a variety of useful skills for the next stage of their education. For example, they learn to persevere, take turns when playing games, and share resources. They learn to communicate effectively and enjoy the company of others. They manage their personal care skills such as putting on their coats and shoes.
