For example, she had developed a range of excellent play resources which encourages children to explore shapes, sounds and colours. The childminder provides high-quality interactions with children that help them make excellent progress. The childminder provides an exciting learning environment that motivates children to investigate and explore. For example, children hide in a bamboo den and use really well-developed mathematical skills to count apples and talk about their shape and colour.

Children are exceptionally polite and operate with impressive levels of independence. For example, they set the table carefully for snack time. They use excellent table manners, and use individual jugs and mugs to organise their own drinks. After eating, children access their own flannels and use mirrors to take responsibility for their messy faces. Children spend lots of time outdoors and get plenty of exercise and fresh air. They have many opportunities to explore and investigate, and the childminder is excellent at extending their ideas while they play. For example, when the children wanted to plant seeds, the childminder explained how to use a sieve to prepare the soil. Children readily concentrate and persevere until the job is done.
p.3
