This provision is inadequate
The childminder fails to meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage and the Childcare Register. She does not know when to follow her safeguarding and reporting procedures to protect children's welfare adequately, placing children at significant risk of harm. The childminder does not keep an accurate record of children's attendance, as required. The childminder does not use her monitoring processes to precisely track children's development and support them to make rapid progress. Children do not have consistent opportunities to learn about their own and each other's backgrounds and diversity. Self-evaluation is weak. The childminder does not evaluate her practice effectively to accurately identify all weaknesses and target areas to improve.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder provides regular opportunities to involve parents in their children's learning. For example, they exchange information through daily discussions, text messages and online systems. This helps parents to continue children's learning at home. Children make good progress and gain the skills they need for their move to school or nursery.

build on the monitoring processes to track children's ongoing progress even more rigorously increase opportunities for children to learn about the similarities and differences between themselves and others develop the self-evaluation processes to identify weaknesses effectively and target areas for improvement.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector held discussions with the childminder in relation to observations of children's play, learning and progress. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning and development. The inspector viewed a range of documentation, including suitability checks and qualifications. The inspector viewed all the areas of the childminder's home available for childminding. The inspector spoke to children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is ineffective. The childminder knows all the signs that would cause her concern about a child's welfare. However, she lacks a secure understanding of the reporting procedures to protect children effectively as she is not clear about when to report any concerns. This compromises children's well-being and safety. The childminder shares practice with other childminders and completes some required training, including safeguarding. However, she does not use the information gained to ensure she knows what to do to protect children. Self-evaluation is not effective in identifying areas of weakness and setting targets for improvement. The childminder's monitoring processes are not precise enough to help her plan children's learning to a higher level to support their rapid progress. She completes thorough risk assessments of her environment, which helps her to identify and minimise any hazards. Children learn to keep themselves safe.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
For example, the childminder practises regular emergency procedures with them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's learning and development well. She successfully encourages their mathematical skills. For example, she introduces counting and comparing space and measure during their play. The childminder builds children's vocabulary well. For example, she makes the initial sounds in words for children to recognise. She encourages children's literacy development effectively. For instance, she reads to the children, pointing at the words and pictures to help them see that print carries meaning. She extends their learning as she connects the story to their wider experiences, such as swimming with their parents. This helps to keep their motivation and interest. She builds children's confidence in their own abilities. For example, she adapts an activity using bean bags so that children are able to achieve their goal.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The weaknesses identified in safeguarding have a significant impact on the safety and well-being of children in the childminder's care. The childminder does not record an accurate daily record of the hours that children attend to help safeguard them and herself. She does not offer children consistent opportunities to learn about the diversity of their different backgrounds. Children behave well and form secure emotional attachments with the childminder. She provides clear guidance and explanations to help them manage their behaviour appropriately. The childminder supports children's understanding of healthy lifestyles. For instance, she caters for their individual dietary needs well and provides nutritious options at mealtimes.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make the progress that is typical for their age. They develop skills ready for their next stage in development. Children successfully build their communication and language skills. For example, they confidently hold a conversation and ask adults appropriate questions to engage them in their play. Children develop their independence. For example, they select their bowls and pour their cereal at snack time.
