This provision is good
Children are very happy, settled and confident. They have strong relationships with the childminder, which positively supports their sense of security and emotional well-being. The childminder is skilled and experienced. She uses her observations and assessments well to plan a wide range of interesting activities that meet the children's interests and stage of development. Children have many opportunities to be active and engage in physical play at the childminder's home and when on outings. The childminder provides a broad range of enjoyable and interesting experiences that successfully engage and motivate children. She supports children's learning well, helping them to make good progress from their starting points. The childminder works effectively to develop her provision. She regularly and effectively monitors her practice to safeguard children and maintain consistently high standards of
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities to engage parents more, so they share what children learn at home and contribute towards the planning of future learning. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to further support children's independence at mealtimes so that they learn to do things for themselves.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the premises, toys and equipment. The inspector sampled documentation, including safeguarding procedures and children's assessment records. The inspector engaged in discussion with the childminder and children at appropriate times. The inspector and the childminder undertook a joint observation of an activity. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder follows clear procedures to protect children and keep them safe, and she knows what to do if she has any concerns. She attends early years training and regularly shares information with other childminders to keep her practice up to date and relevant. For example, recent training has helped her to increase children's understanding of the importance of healthy eating. The childminder monitors children's progress well to ensure there are no gaps in their learning and development. She regularly reflects on the success of activities to help her identify ways to improve outcomes for children. This has led her to provide a wider range of outdoor learning experiences when children showed that they particularly enjoyed observing wildlife and nature.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's learning and development well. Her positive interactions with children help motivate and engage them. For example, while making pumpkin lanterns to celebrate Halloween, the childminder encouraged children to develop their number and language skills and explore interesting materials, as they counted the pumpkin seeds and talked about how the pumpkin pulp felt 'sticky', 'slimy' and 'stringy'. The childminder supports early literacy well, for example, by encouraging children to recognise and write the letters of their name and the names of their siblings.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a secure and welcoming environment. She is very patient, kind and attentive to children. She helps them to develop their understanding of how to tolerate and respect one another's differences well. For example, she encourages older children to include younger ones in activities to maintain harmonious play. The childminder supports children's social skills effectively, taking them on outings to toddler groups where they interact with other adults and children. Children behave very well, and are helpful and kind to one another. The childminder praises children's efforts to help boost their confidence and self-esteem. She organises her home well, allowing children to freely access resources and make their own choice about when to play outdoors.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy their time with the childminder and are motivated to learn. They confidently initiate play, communicating effectively with the childminder to plan what they will do and how they will do it. Children receive good support and encouragement to share their experiences and predict what will happen next. Children gain the essential skills that prepare them well for their future learning, including their move on to school.
