Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of how to keep children safe and is clear about what procedures to follow if she has any concerns. She has completed specialist training to make sure she understands how to support vulnerable families. This helps her to identify any children who may be at risk of harm from extreme behaviours and views. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice and gains parents', children's and other professionals' views to make continuous improvements to the care and teaching she offers. She keeps parents well informed of their children's progress and she carefully monitors children's ongoing development to help ensure that they continue to make sustained progress.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder is skilled at extending children's language skills during play. For example, she asks lots of interesting questions and provides children with lots of new vocabulary and descriptive language. The childminder sustains children's interest and concentration and she plans a wide variety of stimulating and exciting activities. Children enjoy learning about nature and the world where they live. For example, they delight in a fun and sensory activity where they enjoy decorating a tree that represents the different seasons throughout the year. Children enjoy positive and encouraging interactions with the childminder. She shows children how to accomplish new skills and develop a love of learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children form secure emotional bonds with the childminder. They are happy, confident and motivated to try new activities. The childminder supports their sense of belonging and develops their self-esteem well. For example, children enjoy looking at pictures of their family and delight in making connections between different experiences. The childminder gives children lots of praise and is effective at explaining expected behaviour. Children behave extremely well and show consideration for each other during play. The childminder encourages children to adopt good hygiene routines, supports them to enjoy engaging in regular exercise and to eat healthy meals and snacks.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children make good progress and are well prepared for their next stage of learning including school. They are inquisitive, confident and flourish in the childminder's care.
