The inspector viewed the safety of the premises.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder completes appropriate training to ensure that her knowledge of the child protection procedures is secure. She updates her policies and procedures to reflect current guidance. The childminder supervises children well and conducts risk assessments to maintain their safety. Recent training has inspired her to successfully improve her assessment and communication procedures. For example, the childminder uses a daily diary to share information with parents and settings. She reflects well on children's progress and their welfare. The childminder continues to increase her resources and uses trips effectively to provide children with additional learning opportunities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts well with children to encourage learning. She speaks clearly to help young children learn new sounds and words quickly. Children particularly enjoy books and readily sit to listen and join in. The childminder adapts activities well to ensure that each child benefits. For example, she encourages toddlers to feel the textures of pictures in tactile books. Older children recognise familiar characters and help to tell the story. The childminder extends the reading activity to include related songs, which the children sing with enthusiasm. Information provided for parents includes details of children's activities and their individual progress. The childminder and parents work well together to support children's good learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children respond well to the childminder. She encourages their good manners with a gentle reminder and teaches them to have respect. For example, children help to put their toys away when told and learn to be gentle with animals and each other. The childminder takes children on various outings, such as to toddler groups, which supports children's social skills and friendships. She teaches children about safety in everyday situations. For instance, at snack time they talk about the difference between hot and cold drinks. The childminder has a good awareness of children's individual understanding and sets safe boundaries which they understand.
p.3
