Children are independent and engage in purposeful play using the wide range of toys and resources on offer. The childminder reflects on the activities she provides and reviews children's progress. This helps her to swiftly identify and minimise any gaps in children's learning. The childminder works closely with the parents of new children to ensure routines are established and reflect those from home. She ensures that children have sufficient time to settle when they first join the setting. Children settle quickly and easily. Children behave well. The childminder is a good role model and praises children often. This helps them gain confidence and positive self-esteem.

The childminder knows the children in her care well. She is responsive to their interests and uses these to plan activities that support their development. Children benefit from a good balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities. Children enjoy exploring and investigating. They enjoy building towers with bricks and posting shapes into posting boxes.
