This provision is inadequate
The childminder has not provided Ofsted with the information needed to carry out all the necessary checks, to ensure that all those who have regular contact with children are suitable. The childminder does not ensure that all those that work with children have a secure knowledge and a clear understanding of safeguarding procedures. Risk assessments are not robust enough to enable the childminder to quickly identify and address hazards, to ensure children are kept safe. The childminder does not ensure that all those working with children have a sufficient understanding and use of English to consistently promote the well-being, care and learning of children. The quality of teaching is inconsistent. At times, children's learning is not sufficiently extended. The childminder has overlooked breaches in requirements and weaknesses in practice. She has not evaluated the quality of her provision accurately enough.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder provides appropriate opportunities for children to learn to play together. She teaches them to respect and tolerate each other's differences and to be kind to one another. Children have positive relationships with the childminder. She is kind and caring with the children.

p.2
Due Date
develop robust self-evaluation procedures and professional development in order to identify strengths and weaknesses in practice, including breaches in legal requirements, and respond in a timely manner to address these and raise the quality of teaching to consistently provide good outcomes for children.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder, her assistant and children during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of the suitability of all those living or working on the premises and the qualifications of the childminder, her assistants and co-childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. Children's safety and welfare are compromised. The childminder has not provided Ofsted with the necessary information to enable the required suitability checks on all individuals working with children to be carried out. The childminder has not kept her own knowledge of safeguarding procedures up to date. She does not ensure that her assistants can recognise types of abuse or know who to contact if they have a concern about a child in their care. Not all assistants have a sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being, care and learning of children. The childminder does not carry out robust risk assessments to ensure all areas that children access are safe. The childminder's monitoring and evaluation of practice is poor. Professional development needs, to advance knowledge, skills and the quality of teaching have not been identified, for the childminder or her assistants. Therefore, overall

practice is weak. Ratios of adults to children are maintained. The childminder shares information with parents and addresses any of their concerns appropriately. She speaks to them on a daily basis to promote continuity in children's care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The childminder's teaching skills are inconsistent. She does not always engage effectively with children. Their play and learning are not always extended. For example, during mathematical activities, the childminder does not help children to learn about the different sizes, shapes and colours of objects. Children's communication is appropriately supported, including for those who speak English as an additional language. For example, during a painting activity, the childminder repeats words and instructions to consolidate children's understanding and speaking skills. The childmidner appropriately tracks children's development from when they first start. Overall, a range of activities is provided to help children to make some progress in their learning. The childminder shares ideas with parents in order to help them continue their child's learning at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Weaknesses in the quality of leadership and management have a significant impact on children's safety and welfare. Risk assessments are not robust and some areas where children play are not safe due to trailing wires. Children spend time outside in the fresh air. They use climbing apparatus, such as slides, to promote their health and develop their physical skills. The childminder shares appropriate information with parents to ensure they provide balanced and healthy meals for their children.
p.3
Outcomes for children require improvement
Inconsistencies in teaching result in children's learning not always being fully extended. Nevertheless, children make suitable progress and are prepared for the next stage of their learning, such as starting school. Children willingly try new activities and confidently select toys of their choice. They play happily together and behave well. They practice early writing skills as they make marks on surfaces using various tools, such as chalks.
