p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder has maintained her good provision since the last inspection. She reviews what she provides to identify areas to improve further. She checks children's progress carefully to spot any who may need extra support. The childminder attends a wide range of courses including how to keep children physically and emotionally safe. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of early years requirements. She is well aware of what to look out for, and what to do, to identify and address any concerns which might arise. She communicates well with parents about their child's progress. The childminder visits local children's groups to broaden children's experiences and share what she does.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder plans and provides a wide range of experiences and activities. She helps children develop their communication skills well. For example, she speaks very clearly when talking with them. Children develop their physical skills and understanding of the world such as when they run through leaves and climb on fallen tree trunks in the park. She uses her observations of their achievements to plan for what they need to learn next in most areas, but recognises she could extend their learning still further at times. The childminder supports children's creative, mathematical and language skills well. They sort, count, describe and use autumn leaves to make a collage.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children learn to respect others, persevere and help each other. Older children often help younger ones with activities. Children know how to move safely and carefully, for example, in safely and carefully getting on and off the sofa to retrieve a book. Children know about simple ways of staying safe and hygiene routines, and they learn about the differences found in others. For example, they take part in charity fundraising to help develop their support of others from differing backgrounds.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children are well prepared for school and later life. They make good progress and develop well. Children are happy, settled and have a good start to be responsible citizens. Younger children show an interest in the world around them and eagerly take part in craft, song and physical activities such as dancing. Older children begin to write their names, use numbers, develop imaginative role play and can use a range of resources independently.
