p.1
This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
The management team and staff do not ensure that all aspects of the mobile phone policy are implemented and all parents understand them fully. The manager has already taken steps to remind parents to keep their phones in their bags or pockets. This is also a breach of the Childcare Register. The management team does not monitor all aspects of staff performance to ensure staff support children's enjoyment and provide them with consistent messages to help them learn how to behave safely, particularly at mealtimes. Staff do not provide a good range of activities to encourage children's physical skills, particularly for those choosing to play outside.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children arrive happy and settle in quickly. They form warm relationships with staff and have positive attitudes overall. For example, they learn to take turns and help others kindly. Staff help children to develop good personal hygiene routines. For example, children learn hygienic routines for hand washing and blowing their own noses. Staff undertake some professional development. For example, management provides in-house training and quiz activities to help staff learn how to identify any concerns for a child and the procedures to follow to protect their welfare.

increase the range of activities to support children's physical skills, particularly for those who choose to play outside.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the care of children in the hall and outdoor play area. The inspector sampled children's records and documentation. The inspector checked the suitability checks of staff and discussed the management team's knowledge and understanding of the early years foundation stage. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
Safeguarding is effective. Overall, the management team ensures that staff have a sufficient understanding of their role and responsibility to support children's welfare. They provide parents with copies of the policies and procedures. However, on the day of inspection, staff did not notice that a parent was using an application on a mobile phone. When alerted by the inspector, the manager took immediate steps to inform the parent and remind staff of the policy, minimising the risk to children. The management team has made some progress to improve the weaknesses from the previous inspection. For example, they provide mentoring sessions every three months to monitor staff performance with agreed targets for development. In addition, staff monitor one another's performance and have ongoing guidance from the manager. However, this does not ensure that staff support all aspects of children's care and play consistently well to
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
Staff include children in planning activities each week linked to changing topics, such as superheroes. For example, children use their imaginations and creativity as they paint and design their own superheroes and make masks to wear. Staff provide a range of materials for children to combine and explore using their senses. For example, children add flour, colouring and water to make 'slime'. Staff make suggestions to interest children in joining activities, such as board games and making jewellery. However, staff do not consistently support some children in completing these and they lose interest. Staff provide time for children to talk about their day and news, and ask questions about their play to support their communication.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
Staff provide some activities to support children's physical development. For example, they push buggies around the hall in their pretend play and build models with construction toys. They go for trips to the local parks. However, staff do not provide a good range of physical activities for children who choose to play outside. Staff have introduced new systems to support children in behaving well. For example, they provide stickers and golden tickets in recognition of children's behaviour and achievements. They also provide calm discussion to help children understand why aspects of their behaviour are not acceptable. However, staff do not consistently support children to develop good table manners and behave safely at mealtimes. The management team has introduced a more successful key person system. Staff know the interests of their key children and plan activities to complement these.
