This monitoring visit
This home was last inspected in September 2016 and judged to be inadequate. A compliance notice was served, due to serious concerns about how staff were recruited to the home. This specifically related to a lack of consideration about and risk assessment of staff with previous criminal convictions. The provider has taken action to meet the requirements of the compliance notice. When staff have criminal convictions, detailed risk assessments are now in place, with clear control measures to mitigate any risks. This is enhanced by better recording systems in the home that contain all required information. For example, staff files now contain all required information. The organisation has ensured that its recruitment practices are now better aligned with regulation. This means that young people are no longer exposed to adults who have not been adequately vetted before their employment commences. The responsible individual confirmed

to the inspector that there are further plans to improve recruitment in the home. These are currently in the process of being implemented. The home remains without a registered manager. The acting manager has applied for registration with Ofsted, and this is currently being progressed. The acting manager, service manager and responsible individual confirmed to the inspector that actions are underway to meet the remaining requirements from the September 2016 inspection. Ofsted will evaluate the response to these requirements at a further full inspection. There are no requirements or recommendations resulting from this inspection visit. The compliance notice has been judged to be met.
