This provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a strong commitment to reflecting upon and improving her provision. She has worked hard, in partnership with the local authority advisory teacher, to make many sustained improvements and address the actions raised at the last inspection. These improvements ensure good outcomes for all children. The childminder is warm and caring, and provides children with plenty of time and attention. She helps them to learn how to interact with other children, such as sharing and turn taking, and this has a positive impact on their friendships. The childminder provides enjoyable, engaging learning experiences that reflect children's interests and individual learning needs. All children make good progress and acquire key skills required for the next stage in learning. The childminder recognises the importance of working in partnership with parents. Parents are clear about their children's achievements and are kept fully informed.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not organise her resources to support children to engage and benefit fully from their learning experience. The childminder does not use a broad range of opportunities to encourage children to explore print fully and understand its meaning, to strengthen their early reading skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

consider ways to organise and make better use of resources to help children explore more independently and to extend their learning experience enable children to become more familiar with print in different ways, to further develop their early reading skills.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children as they played indoors and outdoors. The inspector held discussions with the childminder regarding her practice at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's assessment information. The inspector took account of parents' written views on the quality of the provision.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow should she have concerns about any child in her care. She has updated her policies and procedures to ensure that they comply with current requirements and underpin her good practice. The childminder seeks professional development opportunities to enhance her knowledge and skills. For example, recent training has helped her understand what support she can provide to children who are just learning to talk. This has a good impact on the experiences she offers children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She accurately monitors children's progress to identify any gaps in their learning, and plans activities to meet their individual learning needs and interests. Children love sharing favourite stories and are encouraged to recall stories in their own words. The childminder supports children well in their communication and language development. For example, she initiates conversations and asks children questions. She supports children's ability to learn about the wider world through engaging activities. Children enjoy preparing pots in which they plant bulbs. They talk about what plants need to grow. The childminder helps children gain social skills and develop wider friendships, for example, they enjoy engaging with others at playgroups.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder meets children's emotional needs well, and children gain confidence and build their self-esteem. They are happy and relaxed with the childminder. The childminder has a calm and consistent approach to managing behaviour. She encourages children to be thoughtful and kind to others, treating them with respect. Children develop a secure understanding of the importance of good hygiene, such as washing their hands before eating. Children receive good opportunities to think about their own personal safety. For example, they help to prepare their snacks and learn how to handle utensils correctly and safely.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident learners and show that they are motivated to learn. Children are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age. They learn to use good manners and respect each other's views. They gain good early writing and mathematical skills. They play cooperatively and enjoy taking on responsibilities, for example, as they help to clear away toys. The childminder effectively supports them to develop many of the skills they need for the next stage of their education.
