This provision is good
The childminder uses her understanding of how children learn to support their individual development. She plans specific challenges to support their developmental journey further. Children make good progress in their personal, social and emotional development. They build strong bonds with the childminder and they show they feel safe while in the childminder's care. The childminder undertakes self-evaluation to improve her service further, by gathering regular feedback from parents and addressing weaknesses identified at the previous inspection. The childminder supports children to develop positive identities and to be respectful of others. Children have a variety of experiences to learn about others in the local community and the wider world.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not organise her resources to support children to engage and benefit fully from their learning experiences.

review the organisation of resources, in particular, to limit any distractions to children's concentration and to help them focus more on their learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and children when appropriate. The inspector observed children engaged in play with the childminder. She observed the quality of teaching during various activities. The inspector looked at areas of the home used for childminding, and a sample of play materials and equipment used for childminding purposes. The inspector took into account the views of parents. The inspector looked at a sample of relevant documentation such as required records for children, self-evaluation evidence, and the policies and procedures shared with parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the steps to follow should she have concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder has a good range of policies and procedures, which she uses well to underpin her work, to ensure children remain safe and secure. She conducts detailed risk assessments; these cover all aspects of the childminder's home, outings and specific activities. The childminder is committed to further professional development. For example, she attends training to reflect new government requirements and successfully address any weakness identified at previous inspection. She welcomes the support of her local authority to improve her teaching and assessment skills. The childminder keeps parents regularly informed about their children's development and care needs. For example, she makes good use of daily conversations and the exchange of written information, and carries out regular reviews.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's good knowledge and experience of how children learn enables her to observe, make accurate assessments and monitor their progress closely. She interacts well with children while they play. The childminder extends children's communication skills well such as using both spoken language and basic signing with young infants. Children effectively develop their interest in early reading. For example, children have access to a good range of books and the childminder makes time to sit and share books with them. Children take on specific roles using their own ideas as they engage in role play such as imitating the actions of those around them. The childminder makes the most of planned learning experiences to focus on individual development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are very happy, confident and settled in the childminder's care. Settling-in processes are gradual and effectively support children to develop an emotional bond with the childminder. The childminder is a good role model and encourages positive behaviour. For example, she uses a good range of vocabulary to offer praise and recognition. Children's individual needs are very well supported, as the childminder works closely with parents to support healthy eating and personal care. The childminder knows how to enhance children's learning experiences. For example, she takes children to a variety of venues in the community to extend their outdoor physical activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children of all ages develop good independence and confidence from the time they start. Children show an eagerness to learn new skills, such as early counting and feeding themselves, and they socialise well with other children present. Children make good progress to help them acquire skills to enable them to move on to school.
