p.1
This provision is inadequate
The childminder has failed to ensure that all those over the age of 16 in the setting have obtained a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The childminder has not kept adequate records of children's attendance. The childminder does not consistently use information that she has gathered to plan for children's learning and development. The childminder does not review her practice effectively and take the action required to improve her provision.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder is warm and friendly. Children are happy and settled in her care. The childminder promotes children's communication and language well. For example, she engages children in conversation as they play and regularly prompts them to extend their vocabulary when making their needs and wishes known. Children behave well. This is because the childminder uses a range of age-appropriate behaviour management techniques, including distraction and praise.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed interactions between the childminder and children as they engaged in activities together. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times. The inspector looked at documentation, including policies, and children's individual files. She also checked evidence of household members' suitability. The inspector looked at areas of the house and garden used for childminding. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. The childminder has failed to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service check for all household members aged 16 or over living on the premises. She does not maintain an accurate record of the times and days that children attend. However, the childminder has attended training to update her knowledge of how to keep children safe. She knows how to recognise concerns about children in her care and report them. The childminder carries out safety assessments of her home and when on outings. She takes steps to reduce potential hazards. The childminder has taken steps to improve her practice since the last inspection. However, she has not done enough to identify breaches in requirements or address other weaknesses in order to drive improvement. The childminder provides support for her assistant to help them develop their practice and checks that they are clear about their role and responsibilities. The
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
childminder is committed to working in partnership with other settings that children attend and provides information about children's progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The childminder generally plans appropriate learning experiences for children and works in partnership with parents to obtain information about what their children know and can do at home. However, she does not consistently build on what children know and can do to promote their learning. As a result, children are not always sufficiently challenged to make good progress. The childminder organises resources to provide an interesting learning environment, both indoors and outside. Children are encouraged to develop their creative skills. For example, they learn how to mix paints to explore new colours. They are proud to share their knowledge of colours and use their artistic skills to create autumn pictures.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Weaknesses in leadership and management mean that children's safety and well-being are compromised. Despite this, young children are well supported to manage their personal needs. They confidently dress themselves for outdoor play and are enthusiastic about developing toileting and hygiene routines. The childminder provides resources and experiences which encourage children to understand the similarities and differences between themselves and others. Children enjoy a range of toys which promotes equality and diversity. Boys and girls enjoy taking turns to feed and change the baby dolls before taking them for a walk in their pushchair.
p.3
Outcomes for children require improvement
Children are not making good enough progress in all areas of their learning. Children's individual learning and development needs are not always recognised and supported. Nevertheless, they generally learn the skills they need to prepare them for future learning and eventually school. Children are becoming independent, follow instructions and play well together.
