Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas where childcare takes place, including the toys, equipment and resources children use, and observed interactions between the staff and children. The inspector observed activities in the playrooms and outdoor areas. She undertook a joint observation with the manager. The inspector checked the evidence of the suitability and qualifications of staff and of the self-evaluation and improvement plans. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including written policies and information from parents' surveys, and discussed assessment, planning and safeguarding procedures. The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The management team and staff have an excellent understanding of child protection and the procedures to follow if they have any concerns about a child's welfare. Staff are enthusiastic and go over and above expectations to support every child and their family. Parents appreciate the ongoing communication and feel very well informed. Staff are extremely well supported by the management team to continue developing their knowledge and teaching practice. The management team and staff monitor children's development very effectively. This helps them to very quickly identify and fully address any gaps in their learning. Furthermore, they recognise the importance of continuing to analyse information about groups of children to ensure the outstanding success of all children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Well-trained staff make frequent observations and very robust assessments of children's learning and development. This supports the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching so that all children, including those who have special educational needs or disability, make the best possible progress. Staff expertly follow children's interests, helping to bring learning to life, and allow children to be deeply involved in their play. For example, older children use Halloween related resources to support their imaginative play, while babies explore and practise a variety of posting activities. Staff model the language for thinking, asking questions that help children to explore other ways to find a solution. Staff are very in tune with children and focus sharply on supporting babies' and children's individual communication skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The staff are very patient and calm and know each child very well. They support children's personal development extremely effectively. Staff work very closely with parents to enhance children's care and learning in the setting and at home. They give positive praise to children and provide gentle reminders about the rules of the setting. The appreciation of children's individuality and diversity is very well embedded in the key person's care for each child. Children learn about a variety of cultures and festivals. They learn to respect one another and value people's different backgrounds.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make exceptional progress in readiness for school. They are enthusiastic about learning and confident when taking part in new experiences. For example, children excitedly create musical instruments and complete science experiments. They talk about their findings in great detail with staff and their friends. Children concentrate very intently and work collaboratively to solve problems as they play together. For example, they select different lengths of wood to create walkways. Children's early literacy skills are developing extremely well. They recognise their names and enthusiastically join in with familiar actions and phrases to alphabet rhymes. Furthermore, children learn about mathematical concepts, such as quantity, time and measurement, and use these aspects expertly in their play.
