This provision is good
Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder uses observations and assessments to monitor and support children's development accurately. The childminder helps children to settle quickly and feel safe, helping them to build attachments. The time spent with each child is used effectively to help ensure their individual needs are met. The childminder establishes good partnerships with parents. She keeps them informed about their child's day and learning. She encourages them to share what they know about their children. This promotes continuity of care and learning. The childminder provides lots of outdoor play and outings to help children develop good health and physical skills and to learn about the natural environment.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children time to explore and represent their own ideas and thoughts during planned activities. The childminder does not always identify how her areas for improvement will make a difference to children's achievements.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role and responsibilities to safeguard children's welfare and protect them from harm. She engages in professional development to extend her knowledge in this area and demonstrates a strong commitment to continuing with this. The childminder maintains safe and secure play environments for children and helps them to learn about keeping themselves safe at home and on outings. She has implemented effective policies and procedures and shares these with parents. The childminder works closely with other early years provisions that children attend to help maintain their good progress. The childminder monitors the quality of her practice successfully to improve her provision and encourages parents to contribute their views.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children well. She monitors children's progress to ensure that gaps in learning close quickly. The childminder uses a mixture of adult-led and child-initiated activities to promote learning. She is aware of children's interests and uses her observations to plan for their next steps in learning. Parents and carers are complimentary about the care provided for children. Children benefit from many outings and activities in the community. The childminder teaches children about the importance of healthy lifestyles. They frequently take part in outdoor activities and outings and they benefit from lots of fresh air and exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are interested and motivated to learn. They make secure progress, develop good skills for their future learning and are well prepared for the move on to school.
