This provision is good
The childminder provides an environment that is safe, warm and welcoming. Children settle with ease and have good attachments with the childminder. Since the last inspection, the childminder has worked well to improve her partnership with parents. For example, she seeks parents' views through yearly surveys and daily discussions to help her identify areas to improve. The childminder communicates well with parents, sending daily emails detailing the children's activities, and using parent responses to help her plan for children's next steps. Children behave well and consider the needs of others. The childminder has consistent boundaries and high expectations of behaviour that help children to behave. Children learn to take turns and share resources well. The childminder has a friendly and caring manner. She knows the children well and plans activities that support their learning effectively. Children are keen learners and

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not extend opportunities for older children to learn more about animals and the natural world. The childminder does not consistently offer opportunities for children who prefer to learn outside to explore and investigate.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the children and the childminder both inside and outside. The inspector took into account the written views of parents. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including children's learning records, policies and training records. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has attended safeguarding training and keeps up to date with any changes. She provides a safe environment and knows the procedures to follow if she has any safeguarding concerns, to protect children from harm. The childminder evaluates her provision effectively. She keeps up to date with early years practice well by attending regular training and group sessions to get support from the local authority and network with other childminders. A recent workshop on identifying children's preferred learning styles has helped her to support them more in their activities and consider this when planning. The childminder monitors children's progress well, addressing gaps in their progress promptly, in readiness for future learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses opportunities effectively to increase children's mathematical knowledge. For example, when children use the swing, she counts the number of pushes and encourages children to count with her. When outside, she draws shapes and writes numbers inside the shapes, and counts as children jump on each shape. The childminder supports children's communication and language well. For example, when younger children who are learning to talk make sounds when holding a toy fire engine, the childminder says 'fire engine' and labels the different parts of the vehicle, giving names to objects, extending their interest well. The childminder links effectively with the local pre- school children attend, working well together to support children's development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe environment. She uses risk assessments effectively to identify any possible hazards and keep children safe. The childminder teaches children good hygiene routines, for example, washing hands after playing outside, after blowing noses and before eating. The childminder supports children well to be physically active and learn about the wider world. For example, during the Olympics, she talked about the different countries and sports. In her garden, she recreated some of them, such as races and balancing on the beam, which supported children's physical skills well and increased their understanding of sport activities and challenges. Children's social skills are good, and they play well together. The childminder has a calm manner and deals with any behaviour issues effectively. She supports children well to share and take turns.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident communicators and gain good skills that prepare them well for future learning and going to school. From a young age, they learn to take care of their needs, be emotionally secure and manage their feelings. Children enjoy being physically active, with good control of their movements, exploring new resources with interest.
