Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is knowledgeable about child protection issues and the signs and symptoms that would give cause for concern. She understands the action to take to report such concerns in line with current Local Safeguarding Children Board guidance. The childminder has developed her skills to monitor children's progress effectively and in partnership with parents. She has developed her self-evaluation process effectively and is ambitious and keen to continuously improve. She is sharply focused on strengthening her understanding of recent changes to practice and guidance. She undertakes rigorous risk assessments to identify and minimise hazards to children both on and off the premises.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a stimulating environment to extend children's interests and increase their knowledge. She supports children's language skills well. For example, she provides a commentary to her actions, models language and listens attentively to encourage children's communication skills. The childminder encourages children to engage in conversations and asks questions that encourage them to think and respond. Younger children respond positively to the childminder's good interactions and develop essential skills needed for early communication. For example, the childminder sings songs to help them put words together. Children enjoy participating in a variety of outings in the local area. They develop social skills as they meet other adults and children at activities in the community and gain a good awareness of the roles that people play in the local community. Children use age-appropriate play equipment in the home, garden and at soft-

The childminder helps children to behave well and be polite. She provides them with good support and builds on their emotional well-being, for example, with consistent and ongoing praise. The childminder supports children's good health effectively. She provides children with nutritious snacks and encourages their physical skills well. The childminder provides children with regular outdoor play. They walk around the locality visiting the school, the park and the children's centre. The childminder teaches children how to be safe. For example, she talks to them about the importance of sitting down while eating.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children develop important skills needed to aid their future learning and the eventual move to school. For example, they learn to manage their own clothes and practise good personal hygiene routines independently. Children have their individual needs and interests met well. They listen attentively to stories and understand that print carries meaning. Children develop a good understanding of mathematical concepts. They count objects during their play and begin to recognise numbers and shapes. They learn about the natural world and thoroughly enjoy activities such as digging and playing in the mud.
