This provision is good
Children's physical well-being is excellent. They have extensive opportunities to use the large outdoor play area and enjoy taking age-appropriate risks in their physical play. The childminder provides an exciting range of resources and activities that captures children's interest and motivates them to learn. This helps children sustain a good level of engagement and concentration in their learning. The childminder effectively evaluates her provision to support her in identifying areas of weakness. She involves parents in the process in order to help her make changes that improve their children's experiences. Children enjoy their time in the highly stimulating learning environment. They are happy, settled and content. They make good progress from their starting points. The childminder has effective strategies in place for partnerships with parents, and they actively contribute to the assessments for their children's development. This helps to

build on continuity in children's learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder leads children during activities and they have fewer opportunities to represent their own ideas in their play. Children do not have extensive opportunities to understand that print carries meaning, to help their early reading skills even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector spoke with the childminder at convenient times throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled documents that the childminder uses to support her practice. The inspector viewed all areas in the property used for childminding. The inspector discussed how the childminder uses self-evaluation to develop her practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder understands and implements the requirements of the early years foundation stage well. She is keen to continue her professional development to help improve her practice. The childminder evaluates what is working well and how best to improve and bridge any gaps in learning to build on outcomes for children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her role in child protection and knows what action to take should any welfare concerns arise. She is able to identify any children who may be at risk of harm from extreme views. The childminder has a comprehensive range of policies covering all aspects of care and parents receive their own copies. She thoroughly risk assesses her indoor and outside play areas to help children play in safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is very enthusiastic and plans relevant activities that relate well to the interests and specific learning needs of each child. She consistently extends children's vocabulary and provides opportunities for them to develop their understanding of the world. For example, children pay close attention when she explains how dinosaur eggs hatch. The childminder skilfully encourages children to develop an interest in the natural world. For example, children enjoy digging up vegetables and going on nature walks, and the childminder uses this as a topic of discussion to teach them about living things. She uses her observations and assessments effectively to help monitor children's progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder creates a nurturing and very exciting learning environment. She implements a carefully tailored approach to support children to settle quickly when coming into the setting. Routines are adapted extremely well to suit the needs of the younger children. The childminder is an excellent role model, helping children to play exceptionally well together. For example, babies become extremely confident and take great delight in playing alongside older children. The childminder places strong emphasis on children's health and physical well-being. For instance, she provides extremely healthy meals and instils good personal hygiene routines in younger children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are very independent and acquire the good skills needed for their next stage of learning. For example, young children can easily take off their shoes and put them on. Children behave well and form good relationships with each other. They develop an understanding of mathematical concepts, such as weight and measures. For example, they compare the sizes of different vegetables. Babies are very active and explore their surroundings with confidence. Children develop a secure foundation of skills for their future learning, including starting school.
