She has acted on weaknesses raised at the last inspection and has completed additional training to enhance her skills and knowledge. Additionally, she seeks advice from outside professionals, enabling her to make informed and sustained improvements.  The childminder works effectively in partnership with other settings children attend, including the local school. She exchanges information with them to support children's learning, ensuring they benefit from a combined approach to learning.  The childminder shares information with parents about how she supports children's learning in the setting. This helps parents to work in collaboration with her to support and extend children's learning at home.  Children develop good social skills in their interactions with others. with kindness and respect to show how they value them.  Children are eager to learn and expand their knowledge. They listen carefully, and act on the childminder's instructions and suggestions. Children engage well in activities. They play imaginatively and are confident to make choices and express their ideas.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not gather robust information from parents about children's prior learning when they first start at the setting.  The childminder does not yet rigorously reflect on her provision to enable her to achieve far reaching improvements across all aspects of provision and achieve practice of the highest quality.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 gather more in-depth information from parents about children's previous learning on entry, to more accurately identify their capabilities at the earliest opportunity  reflect more thoroughly across all areas provision to identify where further improvements can be made, to achieve provision of the highest quality.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector jointly evaluated an activity with the childminder.  The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's action plan for development, children's learning and development records, and a sample of the childminder's policies and procedures.  The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection, and took account of the written testimonials of parents.  The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other household members, and the childminder's qualifications.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder has successfully raised the quality of her provision since the last inspection. She demonstrates a commitment to her ongoing professional development, which has had a positive effect on her personal practice and provision. The childminder implements her policies and procedures effectively to ensure the smooth running of the provision. She communicates well with parents and they comment positively on what the childminder provides for children. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has clear policies to safeguard children, such as to maintain children's confidentiality. She has a secure understanding of how to report her concerns about children's welfare quickly and to the appropriate professionals.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder assesses children's capabilities and plans activities that are suitably matched to their needs. Children's interest is maintained during good quality experiences and opportunities to enhance their learning. Children enthusiastically engage in activities for prolonged periods. The childminder joins in with them as they play and helps children to pursue their imaginary stories, such as during a role-play activity. Children play with real-life objects to add value to their experiences and support their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Children's language skills are supported well as the childminder introduces new vocabulary. This is further extended as children gain an awareness of letters and sounds. Children confidently take the lead in play and the childminder skilfully follows their interests. She uses suitable opportunities to extend their learning, such as counting coins and identifying numbers.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder provides a calm and caring environment for children. They build secure bonds to the childminder and demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. They are encouraged to express their views and are confident to say what they like or dislike. Children make choices in their play. This helps them to feel valued and confident that their views are important. Children's good health is promoted well. They experience regular outdoor play and visits in the local community. They learn how to pedal on tricycles to promote their physical development, and benefit from a healthy and well-balanced diet. Safety is given high priority, both within the setting and outside of it. The childminder is vigilant when children are out and about and she practises road safety with them. Children have clear boundaries and the childminder has high expectations for their behaviour. Children follow the childminder's guidance and respect the boundaries set.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children are supported well to reach to their full potential. They are enthusiastic and motivated learners. Those who are new to the setting settle quickly and are keen to join in new activities and build relationships with their peers. Children listen well and confidently seek help where needed. They learn key skills to help prepare them for the next stage in their learning, such as school.
