For example, children show immense interest in their dinosaur garden and are in the process of creating a fairy garden, which is a current action plan. The childminder has developed her teaching skills to extend children's mathematical understanding. The childminder provides excellent learning opportunities for children, which they recall with excitement. For example, children talk about a trip with the childminder where they saw a Rembrandt painting. This inspired a self-portrait activity on their return, using a mirror to consider their different reflections. Children show immense interest in stories and independently select books. They look at the pictures and confidently retell the story in correct sequence. The childminder makes learning great fun and successfully supports shared reading as children love to take their book bags home. The childminder gives exemplary communication support to children who learn more than one language.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder nurtures children and is an exemplary role model. She involves children exceptionally well to successfully develop their excellent independence skills. For example, children eagerly put on their aprons, set the table and carefully slice their fresh fruit. Children spontaneously help to clear away and understand how to sort and recycle items. They grow fruit and vegetables with the childminder and talk confidently about healthy food. Children are exceptionally polite, courteous and helpful. They show consideration and willingly share as they play. The childminder continuously extends activities to increase learning. For instance, children talk about expressions and feelings as they design a face using self-chosen items.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children have a wonderful time with the childminder and their friends. They play exceptionally well with excellent concentration. The activities inspire and excite children, so they are enthusiastic in everything they do. Children show great delight as they learn about letters, sounds and numbers. They make excellent progress and are extremely well prepared for their next learning environment in pre-school and school.
