This provision is good
Children's behaviour is very good. The childminder ensures children develop an understanding of behavioural expectations within her home. There is a highly stimulating and well-organised environment indoors, which helps to promote children's independence effectively. The quality of the childminder's teaching is good. She uses her knowledge and skills of child development well to promote children's learning in all areas of their development. Children make good progress in their learning. Partnerships with local schools are excellent. Highly effective information sharing between professionals helps them to work together to identify and meet children's needs. Arrangements for reviewing children's assessments are effective. The childminder uses her qualifications well to identify areas where children may require additional support. The childminder plans stimulating, interesting activities for children based on their

It is not yet outstanding because:
Although the childminder works well with parents, she does not always gather information about children's prior learning and attainment when they first start in the setting. Continuous professional development is not yet clearly focused on raising the quality of teaching to an even higher level.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all parts of the childminder's home used for childminding. The inspector observed play and learning activities and spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector viewed regulatory documentation including evidence of suitability checks, children's details, learning journals and a sample of policies and procedures. The inspector took into account the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder keeps updated with her Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures and ensures information, such as contact numbers, are correct. She ensures the premises she uses for childminding is suitable and maintains valid insurance. Good procedures when leaving the premises help to ensure that children are kept safe. The childminder uses the knowledge gained from her qualifications well to monitor children's learning. She continually reviews and adapts her provision to ensure activities reflect children's interests and match their stage of development. The childminder is committed to improving the quality of her provision. She evaluates her practice effectively and talks confidently about how she wants to improve the setting further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are motivated to learn and thoroughly enjoy activities available to them. Children enjoy using tweezers to pick up pompoms and beads. The childminder demonstrates a good use of teaching strategies, such as explanation and modelling, to support children's learning. Effective questioning helps children to solve their own problems as they work out how they could all fill a pot with pompoms. Children demonstrate good language skills as they talk with the childminder. She takes time to listen to the children and extends their conversation effectively. Parents are kept updated with the progress their children make. Daily conversations and opportunities to look through documents, such as children's learning files, are provided. They also regularly access information, such as electronic updates, at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are very confident and independent in the childminder's home. They clearly enjoy being with the childminder as they talk about what they are doing and share information from home. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. Children settle quickly and the childminder has flexible settling-in arrangements, which are tailored to the needs of the child. Good quality information about children's medical and care needs is gathered from parents. This provides continuity and supports children's physical needs. Children settle into school or nursery quickly when the time comes. This is because teachers visit the children in the childminder's home and arranges opportunities for the children to visit them in school with the childminder. Daily opportunities are provided for children to access the outdoor environment. They enjoy a range of activities in the childminder's garden and local parks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They are developing a range of skills and knowledge in preparation for school. Children learn how to use tools, such as scissors, safely and with control. Children develop an understanding of number. They count accurately and begin to solve everyday problems including numbers. Children learn to share and take turns with resources and find solutions, for example, when there are not enough resources for all children.
