This provision is good
The childminder evaluates the quality of the setting and acts on the advice of other professionals to make positive changes. For example, she has remedied all weaknesses raised at the last inspection. She recognises her strengths and some areas for improvement to help her make further changes to her practice. Children make good progress from their starting points. They are confident communicators and develop good language and social skills. The childminder works well with parents to ensure a continuous approach to meeting children's individual needs. For instance, she gathers information from parents about children's early achievements when they first start at the setting. She uses this to plan for their individual needs from the outset. Children are happy and motivated to join in. The childminder forms warm, caring relationships with children. She knows how to help them feel safe and secure, while

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including safety risk assessments, children's attendance records and the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector viewed parts of the premises used for childminding. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about how she reflects on the quality of her service.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder implements policies and procedures to keep children safe. She understands her responsibilities in ensuring children's welfare. Since the last inspection, the childminder has improved her knowledge of welfare requirements. She maintains all necessary documentation to ensure the safety and well-being of children. The childminder knows how to report her concerns if she suspects a child is at risk of harm. She develops her skills and knowledge well to help her improve her practice and children's experiences. For instance, she works with other childminders and shares ideas to help develop her teaching expertise. For example, she has developed her skills in supporting children who have speech delays to help them develop their communication skills more effectively.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans interesting, age-appropriate experiences for children across most areas to support their development and extend their learning. She completes regular ongoing assessments of children to find out what they can do, to help plan for their emerging needs. Children confidently choose the resources they want to play with and they concentrate well while they play. The childminder supports children effectively during her interactions with them. For example, she joins in and talks to them during role-play activities to help encourage their involvement, while extending their ideas. She provides good opportunities for children to develop their mathematical skills. For instance, she teaches children about size and numbers through stories, while helping them to use mathematical words that they are familiar with.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder consistently encourages good behaviour. For instance, she talks to children about what is and is not acceptable behaviour to help them understand her expectations. She teaches children how to use equipment safely and responsibly, and implements effective procedures to protect children from harm. She regularly safety risk assesses all areas children use to identify and remove any hazards. Children eat nutritious foods and learn about healthy lifestyles. The childminder provides opportunities for them to be active, such as during trips to the local park, and supports their physical well-being to develop successfully.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills they need to be ready for the next stage in their learning. For example, toddlers develop good physical skills, such as being able use resources confidently to support their imaginative play. They learn about living things, such as the childminder's pet terrapins, and they develop a sense of concern and care for them.
