This provision is outstanding
The childminder has an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of issues in relation to safeguarding and welfare. She is quick to use information gathered through training and from her professional network to enhance her policies, procedures and ways of working, helping to ensure children's protection, safety and welfare. The childminder has developed highly effective arrangements for sharing information and working in partnership with other early years professionals. She uses these to identify children's individual needs and help them to make excellent progress in all areas of their development. Children are keen to explore and confident to experiment. They are increasingly independent, developing skills that prepare them particularly well for their next activities in the community and at school. The childminder consistently encourages positive behaviour. She has clear boundaries and a calm, reflective approach, appropriate to children's age and stage of

development. The childminder has excellent relationships with parents, who say that they really appreciate her daily updates about their children's play and achievements. Parents particularly like knowing that their children enjoy a relaxed family atmosphere in the care of a childminder who knows exactly how to support children at the end of a busy school day.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed care routines and activities, and the impact of these on children's safety, welfare and enjoyment. The inspector reviewed records and procedures relating to safeguarding, risk assessment, health and safety, and discussed a range of other procedures relating to children's welfare with the childminder. The inspector looked at how the childminder exchanges information with parents. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day and reviewed written communications from parents. The inspector spoke with the childminder about the impact of her training, experience and practice on children's well-being.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is extremely vigilant in keeping children safe as they walk through busy streets to and from school. She teaches children expertly how to be alert to risks as they check the movement of cars, cross roads and driveways, and keep together in crowded places. The childminder is a qualified and experienced teacher of children in the early years and primary age range. Her incisive evaluations of her work result in provision of the highest quality. She has a wealth of expertise that enables her to work closely with parents and school teachers. This significantly enhances her ability to ensure continuity in children's care and, when requested, their early reading, writing and number skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder monitors and evaluates the progress of individual children from starting points agreed with their parents. This helps her to identify and address any gaps in children's development, nurture particular strengths and plan a range of activities that inspire each child to higher levels of creativity and imaginative thinking. The childminder has very high expectations of the children and of herself. She regularly seeks the views of parents and children to continually improve her service. For example, she recognises that, as the children in her care get older, she could expand the range of technology available to them, for example, by finding team games that are suitable for all ages and appropriate for the youngest children in her care.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder provides a highly stimulating environment, indoors and outdoors. Children are incredibly happy and cheerful, for example, as they explore minibeasts, climbing apparatus and ball games in the garden. The childminder meets children's individual needs exceptionally well. Children play confidently with, and learn from, other children of different ages and abilities. The childminder encourages all the children to value and respect each other's differences as they talk through events at school or from their wider community. The childminder values children's comments and opinions. Children are confident to approach her for support and guidance. She supports children's awareness of how to keep themselves safe exceptionally well. For example, children take part in role play activities with foam hoses as they rehearse fire drills and emergency procedures.
