Children have a strong attachment to the childminder and they are confident and comfortable in her care. Children develop well because of this secure, caring and safe environment. There is good communication with parents and information is shared regularly to support children's continuity of care and learning. The childminder encourages physical activities through the use of a slide, dancing to music and walks to the park, local shops and the library. She ensures that the expectations for good behaviour are known to children, which promotes fairness and good manners. As a result, children's behaviour is good. Children are encouraged to eat a healthy diet and lead a healthy lifestyle. Daily menus reflect a balanced and varied range of foods.
p.3

Children make good progress from their starting points and are working within, and in some cases above, expected levels of development typical for their age. Good planning and assessment ensure that activities are stimulating and challenging with enjoyment built-in. Children's communication and language skills are promoted through effective interaction, such as when choosing a book or a tactile toy, between the childminder and each child in her care.
